3 RMA's for the same issues

Kenneth B., Newegg
14 July 2014
  • Summary: Will be the last ROG board I purchase. Nothing but trouble with these designs. I've installed and maintained thousands of ASUS boards for clients and I've never had a problem like this before.
  • Pros: BIOS options are an OC's dream. Plenty of Connections
  • Cons: Price had to RMA 3 times for inefficient Heat distribution of PCH. The combination northbridge southbridge architecture was very poorly designed and the PCH heat issues in a water cooled NZXT Phantom case with every fan location filled made an evening of fun and enjoyment a nightmare. I stayed a ...

Defective on arrival

Brian B., Newegg
11 July 2013
  • Pros: Looks great, very good feature set, most connections well placed on the board.
  • Cons: DIMM socket A1 is defective. Board only shows 12Gb of the 16Gb installed. Board will not post with RAM installed only in A1. Tried flashing the BIOS, resetting the CMOS, checked every stick in every slot. Removed the processor, checked for bent pins and replaced. In addition, although the BIOS re...

CPU and VGA Fails, won't Boot. RMA pending

Travess L., Newegg
29 May 2013
  • Summary: Wish I didn't have such bad luck. Will adjust Egg rating after replacement is obtained.
  • Pros: Board looks great and has plenty of extra features you can utilize. (if the board worked) Hope my next one works.
  • Cons: Board was not DOA, but booted to Bios ONCE then never again. Constant CPU Fail Debug code (probably due to defective CPU also RMA'ed) VGA Fail LED illuminated no matter what card is installed or in which of the 4 SLI slots (with all slots or only the one in use enabled on board no difference). Wi...

User Review

PAULETTE C., Newegg
25 April 2013
  • Summary: Asus makes good boards I have never had a problem until this one I would not recommend this board for anyone I've talked to many others and found there's been lots of problems with this board if you get this board I hope you're one of the few that doesn't have any problems with it.
  • Pros: Looks great has lots of features if it worked.
  • Cons: I bench tested everything seemed to work when I put my computer set up the water cooling it would not post. I checked all my system RMA my video cards test of memory and replace the memory test of the CPU and then replace the CPU. Then I RMA the board and bench tested it. Had the same problem ret...

Overpriced junk

MIRO G., Newegg
2 April 2013
  • Summary: I spent 3 times more than I should have paid for a decent mobo only to go trough a lot of trouble and still don't have a working mobo. Newegg claims that the socket pins were damaged by me and I can't prove otherwise since I didn't insepct the socket pins before the installation.
  • Pros: It looks good
  • Cons: I never got it to work. Spent hours researching online and ASUS website for all possible errors, update bios, etc. On top of that ASUS phone help is a joke, they ask you leave a message and they never call back. Sent back to Newegg for RMA and they are sending it back to me because of bent cpu so...

defective out of the box

MadMax "MadMax", Amazon

  • Summary: Upon first post, motherboard only detected two of the three SSD's, and did not detect the optical drive. Replaced new (ASUS brand) optical drive with another working optical drive from another PC and same issue.

Terrible Quality Control

Sal's Tech Review, Amazon
31 January 2013
  • Summary: Arrived DOA. Due to not having all parts, I could not return this because it was past the 30 day mark. I dealt with Asus horrific customer service, and I sent in the board. They "repaired" my board and I had received it back in working condition. Several months later, boom no post.

Confusing at best

Mathew B., Newegg
4 December 2012
  • Summary: I have tried replacing so many thing to get this system to work in Crossfire. At first I though it was my power supply not being big enough, I had the 860W Seasonic Platinum, I upgraded to the Antech High Current Pro Platinum with the same power draw at the wall according to my Kill-A-Watt meter...
  • Pros: Looks Amazing Digi+ Is supposed to be the best Hi-K Metal Capacitors Audio
  • Cons: It Crashes after playing Battle Field 3 for over an hour or running bonic for over an hour or running bonic, playing music and browsing the web. I have this paired with two ASUS HD 7970 DC2 Top Video Cards when its in crossfire it crashes but with a single video card it works fine. Their is no po...

Great Board (when it works) Terrible Customer Service

Sam C., Newegg
2 October 2012
  • Summary: If quality customer service is your thing. I warn you not to buy their products. However, I will say, their products (when they work) are usually the best in the market. For the money, they should be doing the Jig while helping out on customer service.
  • Pros: - Super fast - Clean looking - Overclock ability - Sound - the amount of ports you get
  • Cons: - One of my Memory Dimms was not working when I got it and have been trying for just about 2 weeks now (originally thought it was a Ram issue, later to find out it was board) for them to recognize my advance RMA. You will spend about 30 minutes on a phone call just to start, and every time you do...

bent pins

Fred K., Newegg
22 September 2012
  • Pros: Don't know of any. The board had bent pins.
  • Cons: I started to put in the CPU and the CPU wobbled a bit. I took it out saw the pins looked funny, with one side a bit grey looking. So I got a magnifying glass out and saw they were bent. I sent the board back to Newegg for a RMA and the RMA was disallowed. I've been working on computers since the ...
