Six years still going strong

Anonymous, Newegg
  • Summary: I had to post my results and 6 years of rock solid performance after seeing the 3 star rating. I believe the company motto at the time of this board was Rock solid Heart Touching though that might of been when i bought my first asus board a p5q-e (qx9650 4.0 still running).
  • Pros: I bought this board from newegg so long ago that even newegg doesn't have it archived in my purchases. I purchased a w3550 xeon to go with it and ran that OC'd to 4.0 ghz forever. The boards had a 920 in it but now theres a x5650 @ 3.7 daily. The x5650 will do 4.4 on this board rock solid theres ...
  • Cons: Not a con: The x58 chipset didnt support trim on RAID natively now mine does after a little bios updating on the chipset. Im not even sure it was possible till the modding community got a hold of the bios to make changes. Its an old board, but if you didnt get a lemon and took care of it it would...

  • Summary: this is a great mobo that allows of the builder to think outside the box. but the northbridge is super hot. you could fry an egg on it
  • Pros: this mobo rocks, it has beaucoup connectors and great features. it is a matx so it allows for someone to build a smaller system that still can pack a punch.
  • Cons: the northbride is scalding hot. can not figure out why. without a fan directly over it it will shut the pc down.

Suprised at negative reviews

Mark S., Newegg

  • Summary: For people who are having issues with this board, it just appears to need more voltage. Out of the box, my board rebooted and was unstable--just like the reviews I read previously.
  • Pros: Configurable, stable, high quality, and decent overclocking tools. Board seemed very high quality when I bought it and it still seems very high quality after three years.
  • Cons: Can't think of any. But out of sheer preference, it would be nice to add more voltage to the onboard fan controllers.

flawless

David A., Newegg

  • Summary: It is a micro ATX board that has 2 PCI-e slots, not 3. Just be aware of this if your intent is to run a 3-way SLI configuration. That won't work, your limit is 2. This is in no means a downfall to the board, just a fact of micro ATX.
  • Pros: If you are not going to have a 3-way SLI configuration, and you have a LGA 1366 chip, then this is the board for you. My ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 was failing and I needed a replacement. No more blue screens, freezes or lost CMOS settings. This mobo booted on the first try and has been rock solid ever s...

Got as an open box

  • Summary: Core i7 970 24gb corsair Vengeance 1600 ram GEFORCE GTX 680 WD vraptor 600gb GSKILLPro 120gb SSD Samsung 1tb Seagate Barricuda 500gb Seasonic X750 Samsung T240b Silverstone slim DVD/CD drive Silverstone Fortress FT03T
  • Pros: Easy oc in bios is nice, prefer the evga bios in terms of setting things up. But once you get used to it becomes pretty easy. Supports turbo on six core i7's without having to hard mod the board. sata III/6 USB 3.0 where my evga board does not. Loved my formula board.
  • Cons: Had to wait for an open box People complaining it only has 2x 16x PCIE slots it's mATX... Buy a bigger form factor board....

Lot's Of Tweaks

Jeff B., Newegg
15 March 2012
  • Summary: I purchased this board to fit a Dell micro case that I liked. I had to do some I/O modification but everything fit just fine. Micro boards can get crowded but this one is laid out quite well.
  • Pros: If you're looking for a mobo with a lot of options, this bad boy is for you. There are so many tweaks that you can customize pretty much what ever you want your sytem to do. It's a great looking board but by the time you squeeze all of your stuff on it you really can't see much. The I/O plates is...

Wonderful mATX Board

Sean W., Newegg
27 February 2012
  • Summary: Bought open box from New Egg in October 2010. Running an I7 950 at just over 4 GHz and rock solid. Don't really use the bundled utilities that came with the board. I have yet to have a single issue with this board. Everything works as advertised. Will definitely be buying ASUS again.
  • Pros: Loaded with features, easy BIOS to navigate, able to save several profiles in BIOS for OC setups, 24gb RAM support, two PCIE x16 slots, etc. etc. etc.
  • Cons: It's a mATX board. For some that's a con, but don't complain about lack of X16 slots. You knew what you were buying. For me, since I'll never need 3 slots, this is a perfect board.

Decent Board

Steven H., Newegg
8 November 2011
  • Summary: Decent board for what I do, sadly I bought this weeks before the 1155's became popular. so a little bummed there, but overall great board!
  • Pros: Decent medium sized board, runs a quality processor and 24gb of ram which is perfect for even the highest games.
  • Cons: Wish the north bridge had a fan, for overclocking. If you plan to overclock, I recommend learning to do manual overclock. I got much better performance, and an all around more solid performance from manual over having the system control it.
