Intermittent Issues

Joshua F., Newegg
29 October 2015
  • Pros: Board color scheme is nice. Built in audio quality is pretty good.
  • Cons: Not sure if it's just the luck of the draw, but my unit began to have issues right after the 3 year warranty ran out. Bought the motherboard in 2010 and began to have issues last year (2014). The motherboard tends to be stubborn when you try to boot it up after a shutdown. Sometimes it'll start u...

Dead All of them

Kelley L., Newegg
8 March 2013
  • Summary: Other notes to this, i thought it was my CPU at first, So i purchased a Brand new 1366 i7 920 and Borrowed my friends i990x Directly out of his machine. Well i lost out on a good chunk of money as a new i7 920 1366 ARE still expensive as heck even for a older tech.
  • Pros: Excellent when it worked for like 1 month from original purchase.
  • Cons: From day one all revisions of this motherboard has given me problems, nothing but PROBLEMS, they all broke down, first one sent back for a Advanced RMA, returned and Returned with a brand newboard, one problem with it, it has a CRP bug ( Asus CPU Parameter Recall) So i sent it Back ( and its cons...

BSOD

Michael t., Newegg
16 November 2012
  • Summary: I wish I would have returned it after day one. Also if you ever have to replace a board do not down grade yourself. Replaced a bricked EVGA x58 classified with the above board.
  • Pros: It has all the newer bells and whistles. I thought the motherboard would be a good temporary upgrade to keep my system going. .
  • Cons: I get random crashes all day. For the price and size of the board I would not recomend it. The disk has tons of tools that can only be used in a 32bit system why would you run 32 bit with this socket set???

Worst board I've ever purchased

Samantha S., Newegg
20 October 2012
  • Summary: I've owned a number of other ASUS parts with varying degrees of quality, but I think this may be my last ASUS product.
  • Pros: 2x PCI-E 2.0 x16
  • Cons: Terrible Board Layout SATA / RAID controller fails intermittently Occasionally on boot, while detecting drives, it will take about 60 seconds to recognize each drive. Only recognizes 8GB of the 24GB I have installed (RAM works in other machines)

Justin M., Newegg
17 October 2012
  • Summary: i have RMA the board for refund as it does not work as intended
  • Pros: good board layout
  • Cons: the board didn't recognize my drives all of the time. i tryed a PCI-e OCZ card and it would recognize it about 10% of the time. i then tryed to setup 2 OCZ SSD on the Sata 3 ports and setup a raid windows 7 installation recogniazed the raid without the driver. but with and without loading the dri...

User Review

Rick A., Newegg
12 October 2012
  • Summary: I wish newegg would be more selective getting a Co to sell garbage to unsuspected victims.
  • Pros: Rip Tom, that happend to me too, Asus is a desgrace as a Co. I lost a lot of money dealing with them, now if I am in a store and see anyone looking at a Asus product I make a effort to discorage them to purchase.
  • Cons: All,

One Dog, One Cat

Stuckey M., Newegg
14 July 2012
  • Summary: ASUS - I know that you know better than this. If you don't believe me, please check your own records. This happened last summer, the board is on a top shelf where I had forgotten about it.
  • Pros: I bought two of these. One works.
  • Cons: The other worked for about 2 weeks, then became intermittent. I returned it to ASUS with an RMA. They returned it, said nothing was wrong with it. I experimented further, found that the board had a mechanical problem: flexing the board very slightly at one corner would cause it to shut down, rebo...

Do not buy

Bryer R., Newegg
24 April 2012
  • Pros: Board posted first try no issues to start with
  • Cons: While playing any game the northbridge overheats rediculously hot getting the IOH overtemperature alarm, This board idles at 70C and easily climbs to over 100C until it shuts itself down. I changed the thermal paste on the northbridge to artic silver 5 and it still cant keep this board cool, So i...

  • Pros: Powered on. Recognized CPU. Identified all SATA drives BIOS UPDATE FLAWLESS (Seriously. gg Asus. I didn't need a floppy disc or specially formatted USB drive to flash the BIOS? Win.)
  • Cons: Marvell SATA3 / RAID controller worthless Board only recognizes 4GB out of 6GB RAM. (I bought straight from Asus' manufacturer list, down to the part number) FAIL FAIL FAIL Seriously? second board flaky errors

duane c., Newegg
12 October 2011
  • Summary: Sounds like from the techs at asus, if you have a problem don't use it. So that was a waste of money buying that board for a gaming system.
  • Pros: looks good but thats about it
  • Cons: first board died when I updated the bios to accommodate my 990X cpu red light came on the board would not boot. Second board did not attempt to update bios getting flaky errors. Also asus suite will not run hangs system. Techs at asus say if if doesn't work don't use it. reported voltage variatio...
