ASUS Rampage III Formula Intel X58 Motherboard Review
20 April 2011
Summary: Final Thoughts
This is the first time I’ve actually had some time with an ASUS Republic of Gamers board. I mean I’ve seen them at CES and have read the spec sheets, but having a few weeks with this board you can really appreciate all of the features. Many people when looking at this board may think, “Yeah it is a gaming board and has a cool color scheme”, but there is so much to this board that no one will even know about if they don’t read reviews like this.
Pros: – Easy overclocking, – Fully featured, – ROG Connect feature, – USB 3.0 and SATA 6 GB/s, – Extreme Engine Digi+
Summary: This board was nothing short of awesome. I’ve got high expectations for ROG boards in general. ASUS did that to themselves by raising the bar so high in the first place. The feature set is excellent, the board is stable, well mannered, and just outstanding in all categories save for the crappy TurboV EVO bundled with it now. Obviously I was harsh in my judgment of the software and I stand by that. It sucks.
[Review] ASUS Rampage III Formula – Less Bling, Same Sting
5 November 2010
Conclusion: The Rampage III Formula grabs the Republic of Gamers tag, aiming the board at Gamers first and foremost. Quality construction, with desirable components adds to this motif for the motherboard. An amazing array of features are included as well as a number of innovative software applications that ASUS has deemed to include to further improve system performance.
Conclusion: While the ASUS Rampage III Formula was not the #1 board in every benchmark we tested, it was able to keep up with the latest GIGABYTE’s X58A-UD7. Because motherboards are almost always very similar in performance, in our opinion it is not the performance that matters in this case, but the price vs. value of the features available on a motherboard. Of course the features cannot just be random irrelevant features, but something a user will take advantage of.
Pros: Excellent price for a board with excellent performance and features., High Performance and Good Stability., Versatility during overclocking., High Quality components, and great new looking heatsink design., LED Voltage and Temperature indicators., Switchable Dual-BIOS with LED indicators, and reflashing possible through BIOS in case of corruption., Debugging LEDs and measuring points., All fan headers are 4-pin PWM connectors.
Cons: Only 8 Phase CPU Power for an Enthusiast Overclocking board, Not packaged in anti-static packaging.
