Compared to our experience with the Rampage II Extreme, overclocking the Eclipse was an absolute breeze. Their Cell Menu in the BIOS has plenty of options to choose from--perhaps not as many as ASUS, but it's still quite expansive. The high point was, we really didn't need them to achieve some great results. While leaving voltages on <AUTO>, the board itself boosted the necessary voltages to ensure proper operation, such that all that's really necessary for... Read more
For as many years as I have been building my own PC's, many of my friends have sworn by ASUS for the best stability, top end features, and great overclocking. Today, ASUS is still considered by most as the elite motherboard manufacturer for desktop motherboards. Over the last few years ASUS has stepped beyond the ordinary offerings to bring us something truly radical, even branding a name to their special line of motherboards. Dubbed the "Republic of Gamers" series, or... Read more
To run Asus’s $400 Rampage II Extreme board you’d have to be either extreme or the world’s biggest poseur. How extreme would you have to be? You’d have to be the type of person who boils liquid helium atop his CPU to keep it cool. And because you can’t waste time overclocking from within the OS, you’d want to reach your hands into the guts of your case and use the board’s PCB-mounted controls that let you check and change voltage, fan speeds, and temps on a... Though pricey, the Rampage II Extreme's stability and extreme tweakability make it an excellent choice for those who want to push their PCs to ungodly speeds. Read more
Well, one thing is for sure, there is a new big player in town. The Rampage II Extreme boasts king of the hill benchmark performance that is necessary to compete with the big boys in 3DMark competitions. The package comes at a premium of course, but you've got to pay to play, and this board definitely delivers! The BIOS is incredible, answering my prayers! I love the LCD panel during boot because I can see exactly where the system is hanging after an unstable overclock,... Read more
Amazing Motherboard, So easy to overclock, Recomend to anyone, Read more
Great board, got my i7 up to 3.9 GHz Come with a "X-Fi" Soundcard, and tons of goodies. Is Asus's flagship board. Has 3x PCI-E slots, for SLI or Crossfire (supports both) Can support 6 DDR3 Triple Channel DIMS. Amazing in general Read more
Anyone who overclocks a i7 is retarded. Or has more money than sense. You buy low and go high. Props to ASUS but a $400 board can only be justified if you don't have to manually set it up. I'm a huge fan of the EPU-6 engine. Auto overclocking to get out of rough spots is cool. Read more
I am on my third board getting ready to RMA that one, the first had the memory slot issues, the second died after 6 months and had an issue with mounting the CPU securely. The third just stopped booting one day No fun at all. I do not think the price is justified based on the QC Read more
