Summary: I bought this motherboard back in May of this year for a gaming build as it came highly recommended by friends and I had bought motherboards from ASUS before with much satisfaction. Saddly, I never tested all of the features of the board and it turns out one of them was an expensive oversight. The PCIe 3.0 x16_2 slot does not work and I have no idea if it ever did because I never tested it before the month of August.
Summary: I've been running the new motherboard for about a week. I do run a dual boot system. I put window xp 64 bit and windows 7 64bit on a separate hard drives. The board runs fast! what a difference from my old P4. By habit I alway download the latest drivers online and usually don't use the disk the comes with the package as usually the drivers are already outdated. I used an old bluetooth dongle for the first few days as I was having trouble getting the onboard one to work.
Summary: The reason why I gave only 3/5 stars is: * I put the entire computer together to find out the on-board NIC was defective. There was no link light. Product was RMAd by Amazon, but -1 star for the inconvenience. * The only differences I see between the ASUS P8Z68-V PRO and the ASUS P8Z68-V is: - The Pro has a on-board reset switch. - The Pro has a USB 3.0 Adapter that plugs into your motherboard and sits in one of your cases PCI slots. It adds two additional USB 3.0 ports.
Summary: Received the motherboard today and was surprised to see that the box was not shrink wrapped. Also the antistatic bag inside the box was not sealed on all sides but rather open on one side Has anyone else received their's like this? Is this normal? I am wondering if I received one that had previously been returned.
Summary: first of all i got a opened product.HDMI port has stopped working after 3 days.but for some reason this board has several good reviews all over the internet, seems like i got a lemon. Before printing the return label I called ASUS support they did not want to go thorough any basic troubleshooting steps simply said return the product. Update: returned the old defective product, ordered the same one so far its working so good and updated my rating from 1 to 3.
Summary: I have always had good luck with ASUS motherboards but this is the most problematic one I've ever owned. The board is configured with 16 GB of G Skill memory, I7-2600K CPU and a Radeon 5770 graphics card. When the board goes into sleep mode, it does not want to recover. I thought is was Windows 7 so I disabled the sleep mode. The board still shuts down and only partially fires back up. Fans start but no graphics.
Summary: Build: Intel I7-2600K, 8GB G-Skill Sniper RAM, crappy old video card, Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler I have been a huge fan of ASUS motherboards, and this is the third one for me. It is probably the most disappointing of them all, and its very possible I will not continue with Asus line going forward. Here are my observations after the build and about a week of use: Pros: * Solid motherboard with nice heat sinks and is able to hold my behemoth CPU fan without any issues.
Summary: Perfomance wise it seems ok, does what it says on the tin. the only gripe I have is that the third, nearest the edge, pcie slot will not take a big graphics card because of the connectors that sit under where the card needs to be, so if you want to use crossfire you have to use the other two slots which then makes the pci slot inbetween them un useable as anything put in that slot will cover the fans on the graphics card.
Summary: This motherboard is certainly packed to the brim with features! Its seamless UEFI BIOS and Windows programs make it so simple to achieve brilliant overclocking results - despite myself not being an overclocker. The audio quality is a vast improvement over my old ASUS motherboard - which was pants! - and the quality of signal filtering is a lot better: crosstalk and stray voltages were no longer a problem. The problem came with RAM.
