OK BUT USB Problem

Brad F., Newegg
5 August 2013
  • Summary: Since all I have to do is unplug all usb devices and reboot, then once I get into windows plug everything back in I'm good to go. So I'll live with it till I can afford to upgrade to another mobo maybe try MSI this time..
  • Pros: Worked for almost 2 years without a problem
  • Cons: Started to have problems with booting found out USB devices were blocking boot-up. The Only devices that didn't cause a problem was mouse and keyboard (USB). All other devices caused mobo to stall at bios screen. Contacted ASUS Support went through a few things then was told to flash bios. Flash ...

Looooooong boot time

Anonymous, Newegg
5 March 2013
  • Summary: If you can get this cheap, it works, but if you can, you should go for a motherboard with a later version of UEFI that has a reputation for a fast boot time.
  • Pros: It's a motherboard. It does motherboard things. It has a 1155 slot. Not much else that is special. All the other listed memory and PCI/PCIe slots
  • Cons: This motherboard was designed in the early days of UEFI, and has a bios with a GUI and network drivers(!). The bios options don't work particularly well, and the network drivers in it are a really worrisome security hole. In addition, it takes more time for this motherboard to reach GRUB than the...

Runs fine at minimum settings

Matthew R., Newegg
13 October 2011
  • Summary: Have updated bios to current version, tried clear RTC RAM, and hit MemOK! switch but have had no success. A decent board if you are willing to risk having your high speed RAM run at the lowest settings. False advertising in my opinion, will not use ASUS again.
  • Pros: Was a decent price, has great compatibility (SATA 6GB/s, USB 3.0, etc). Specs look like board is a great deal.
  • Cons: Will not run RAM at speeds greater then 1066MHz. Specs say board will overclock to 2200MHz and run regularly at 1600MHz. Using Mushkin (2 x 4GB) DDR3 sticks @ 2133MHz and i5-2500 @3.3GHz. With XMP setting in bios applied, board automatically recognizes RAM speed, timings, and voltage, but fails t...

Maybe a touch expensive

Sean B., Newegg
10 October 2011
  • Summary: I moved from an XFX nForce 750i mainboard, which was jam packed with these little ease-of-use features that this Asus board simply lacks. While I'm generally happy about the purchase, I do feel that, even on sale, it was probably a tad overpriced
  • Pros: - UEFI Bios interface is sleek and sexy - Great overclocking and memory stability - Booted up and ran perfectly out of the box, which is the first Asus out of almost 30 boards spanning over a decade that did this - USB 3.0
  • Cons: -The board layout needs some work -Thermaltake Frio with both fans blocks DDR3-Dimm1, rendering it unusable -Thermaltake Frio with ONE fan, blocks DDR3-Dimm1, rendering it unusable - 1 x PCI-E @ 16x and 1 x PCI-E @ 4x Max means this board does not support SLI. Don't even think about it. - Humdrum...

Decent board but IDE users beware

Ian M., Newegg
24 September 2011
  • Pros: Good performance, stable.
  • Cons: Board would either fail to boot completely or take 3+ minutes to get past the Marvell BIOS when my IDE DVD/RW drive was plugged in. Latest BIOS did not help. Had to remove DVD drive.

Disappointed.

Vikram S., Newegg
20 August 2011
  • Summary: I also could not hook up my front audio ports.
  • Pros: It works.
  • Cons: Two out of the four ram slots were bad. I wanted to send it back, but decide to keep it. I bought this board in a combo deal, from new egg, with a case. This was my first time building a gaming computer, so I was trying to be very careful with everything. To my surprise, the board did not fit the...

Not the Best, Not the Worst

Anonymous, Newegg
15 August 2011
  • Summary: Its not the best motherboard I've bought, but its far from the worst.
  • Pros: Hooked up and booted up just fine. Asus BIOS with a mouse is defiantly a nice feature.
  • Cons: -Running it on the Automatic OC results in instability and sometimes it takes it a few boot attempts for a successful boot. -Installed second hard drive a week after the build. Hard drive was automatically disabled in BIOS. Had to enable it and when I did that it disabled my primary Hard drive. e...

User Review

Robert S., Newegg
28 July 2011
  • Summary: There are many better choices when it comes to budget boards than this one.
  • Pros: -Good price at the time of purchase
  • Cons: -Has problems with sandy bridge processors (3x boot loop on startup) -Bios is less than desireable

its ok....

Jimena Z., Newegg
25 June 2011
  • Summary: Don't even thing about buying it, you'll be waisting your money...
  • Pros: Its cheap and works
  • Cons: During the booting process it says that there's no hard drive on my pc and then boots up, and also shows me this message: "failed doing overclocking", or something like that. I haven't overclocked anything on my pc... It takes two or three "restarts" to make it work
