Faulty caps on OEM board

Maureen B., Newegg
16 January 2014
  • Summary: You get what you pay for I guess... This'll probably be the last time I buy any OEM boards. Too much to fail, not worth the risk of the delays.
  • Pros: Like the board layout. Had everything I needed at a great price.
  • Cons: I bought an OEM board, so I can't be sure who's at fault... But, there was a faulty capacitor in the DIMM power circuit which caused a short to the base of a switching transistor connected to one of the voltage regulators. The result was smoke as soon as the power was turned on. Probably just a b...

Bad Onboard Video

Derek D., Newegg
5 September 2013
  • Summary: Asus has always been a good brand in my book but then again I've generally gone with their higher end mobos. It doesn't sound like I'm alone with this issue. I wouldn't recommend this product if you plan to use the on-board video.
  • Pros: Cheap, has most of the features I'd look for in a budget mobo
  • Cons: As many other reviews have stated, the unit was DOA. The onboard video does not work (one long beep followed by three short). Followed all usual troubleshooting steps including CMOS reset, bench test, swap between DVI & D-Sub, etc. etc. No luck. Requiring buyer to pay return shipping on a defecti...

DOA

Won Y., Newegg
19 June 2013
  • Pros: Very cheap pricing, easy instructions
  • Cons: The motherboard came DOA. The lights were active (both green and red) but it wouldn't boot let alone be connected to display. It kept on rebooting itself every 3 seconds without making it to bios. I've tried testing all of my other components on other computers but this mobo seems to be the probl...

I/O shield is horrible

Chase S., Newegg
15 November 2012
  • Pros: I got it.
  • Cons: I cannot fit the slots into the i/o shield at all and I have no idea on how to even do it due to the horrible guide in the manual.

POC

Kevin T., Newegg
14 November 2012
  • Summary: Only get this if you want to take a risk and don't really plan on seriously overclocking it.
  • Pros: Worked to some extent, so it gets 2 eggs, but did not fully function out of the box. Garbage. It only manage to overclock to 3.9 gigs on a 3570k i5. Later did I realize you should probably use a Z77 type board to use its multiplier because I couldn't use it on this b75 chip.
  • Cons: Bought this board for a new budget pc build, and ended up discovering it had issues shutting down and sleeping. I tried to RMA it, but when I extracted the cpu to put on another board I purchase to replace I bent a pin, which I found out voids the warranty. Now I wasted 95 bucks on a piece of jun...
