Pros: I have had several Asus motherboards and have really liked them. It is a nice, uncluttered board with good basic layout.
Cons: This board arrived with a dead memory slot which drove me nuts trying to figure out what was going on. There are not enough fan plug ins to run all of the fans in my case. While the lights that indicate where problems exist might be useful, I prefer a digital post to help troubleshoot.
Pros: Seems like a solid motherboard for the price. Everything was pretty easy to install and get back to in the case.
Cons: 2 of the RAM slots were broken/unresponsive on the board...but I decided not to return it right away because I didn't plan on upgrading from my 8GB ddr3 anyways. Well, after a while 2 of the SATA ports became unresponsive. I waited 3 days for my friend to bring me over a temporary board so I can ...
Summary: HAD to update the bios to get system stability, 1207 -> 1307. I also don't like the memory slots, yea memory feels secure in it, I just liked the older method better. With an excessively quiet computer and an OPEN case, you will hear annoying noise from the voltage regulators.
Pros: It's fast. Overclocks well. Very nice bios options.
Cons: Microphone input volume sucks. 30db boost with max recording vol and people can only barely hear me. Using a Logitech desktop mic that works fine with other soundcards/motherboards. It's been a long time since I have needed to buy a sound card, looks like I will need one with this system.
Summary: Online support for this board is not great. Tech support is only helpful to a certain point.
Pros: Like everyone says, it is a great board... BIOS options are plenty full... It's a good mid size board.
Cons: Asus Probe II keeps giving me CPU Fan warning messages that the RPM is dropping to about 500 or 600 rpm... I swapped my hyper n520 for another one and still the same error, so it is not the fan. I have it connected to the 4 pin CPU_PWR molex and had it connected to the 3 pin PWR_FAN molex to test...
Summary: Doesn't wanna start up well with Creative Audigy 2 Platinum. Windows won't start, it takes either several blue screens or lockups at windows logo screen before it gets it. Once it gets through start up phase it works for ever. I think it's IRQ assignment issue since it's only at boot time.
Pros: Great board, stable with i7-860 and 8GB RAM G-SKill, lots of connections, great access to CMOS clear jumper.
Cons: Needs digital out on RCA (has only optical). I had made an extra one myself and connected it to internal SPIDF out on the board and all the way to the back of the case. If my current audio card issue won't get resolved, I will just use the on-board thing.
Summary: If it were not for the hassle with finding memory that works I would rate this 5 eggs, I have to subtract 1 egg due to inaccurate memory recommendations on the QVL, and another egg subtracted due to no help whatsoever from Asus support on this matter.
Pros: Overall very good board once I found memory that works.
Cons: BEWARE of the memory QVL for this board!! By trying to follow the QVL provided by Asus, it took me 6 tries until I found memory that actually worked, at least for 1600MHz memory. Most of the listings for Corsair, Patriot, OCZ and G-Skill DDR3 were for X38 and X48 chipset and NOT the P55. You also...
