Summary: Hopefully, this review will actually get posted. I have had mutiple memory recognition issues with this board. Google "p6x58d-e memory problems" and take a look at way too many posts with problems that cannot be rectified and many proposed "solutions" that do not work. I tried 3x2 meg 1600 gskill first - would post 6, then 4, then 6 etc on reboots. Slowling it down to 1333 and 1066 did not resolve the issue. Different voltages did not fix it.
Summary: If your plan is to setup a RAID and none RAID SATA devices for your rig, then this mobo might not be the one for you. It has six SATA II ports control by Intel ICH10R and two SATA III ports control by Marvell. SATA ports setting is all or nothing, meaning you can only have all IDE, or all AHCI or all RAID. In my case, I'm using SATA III port of SSD and I wanted to set up RAID 10 on SATA II.
Excerpt: Fantastic layout and cooling. Comes with USB three.. I did not even get this to take my RAID setup, my SSD, or anything. Right after each format it would tell me "Missing operating program" I am tired of it and returning it. My memory did not work - I bought the XMS 3x2GB kit 2000mhz only showed 4GB MAX.
Excerpt: I consider that the features and basic top quality of this board are pretty good. The application tools by ASUS appear like they have been written for little children to appear at, but they aren't too terrible. The BIOS is very very good, even if it is a tiny bit deep and explanations of the selected item can be somewhat lacking often. I just added a new heat sink to my develop following seeing that the stock Intel 1 for my i7-950 really was noisy and ineffective.
Excerpt: Appears to run all speeds as advertised and documented, though I have not done specifically in depth testing in this region as of yet. I will not continue any testing until I have a fully functional board. RAM slot A1 would not recognize its RAM stick on first boot, or any subsequent attempts. Did a bit of trial and error troubleshooting to come to this conclusion, and will be sending the board back quickly for replacement.
Excerpt: Very colorfull useless card Since I had set up the motherboard, the blue screen of death is what I had observed most of the time. Asus Tech help is worst forever. Updated Bios and difficulty is nonetheless there. I had other ASUS motherboard. This 1 had given me so substantially issue. I will stau away from ASUS. Techie at ASUS do not help a lot. Keep away from this motherboard.
Excerpt: None. None. None. At 1st boot, it would not recognize all memory slots. Following substantial trouble shooting, nonetheless would not recognize all slots. I ought to have heeded the other 1 egg testimonials that had the similar problem. My gut mentioned listen to the one particular egg reviews, but I stated "it's Asus, it really should be okay. There's all these other happy owners." It isn't worth it to be that one particular guy that pays for a broken item.
Excerpt: None. Dead on arrival. Newegg wont RMA it due to the fact its past their 30 day policy. Had to wait for more parts from Newegg to make my machine, therefore generating it not possible for me to even test it inside 30 days. Going through ASUS' TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE RMA department. They dont want to replace the product that is their fault from the starting. I will in no way purchase an ASUS item once more.
