Excellent MB for Intel Core 2 Processors

Robert Brown, Amazon
12 February 2015
  • Summary: For an older motherboard, this is pretty good. Lots of features and a good layout. One of the two PCI-E 1X slots is still available when using a two-slot video card. The seller shipped very quickly and responded immediately when I found the rear I/O panel was not included.

Works fine

Alan R., Newegg
16 April 2011
  • Summary: My problem may have been drivers, but I figured that I mitigated that in the first place by waiting until SP1 of Windows Vista had come out. Don't think I'll buy another motherboard right after it is introduced. Wait until a mobo has been out on the market for a while!
  • Pros: When teamed with a fast processor, it works fast.
  • Cons: Was a nightmare to get working with Vista 64-bit SP1 OEM. Never got it to work, even after WEEKS of debugging and retrying, so I wound up going back to XP for a couple years, at least until Windows 7 came out. Installed Windows 7 w/ no problem!

Works great so far

Power Tool Marine, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: Got this up and operating easily, right out of the box. As stated, there is no video output. Not a problem for me, as I have a 1Gb Raedon 4870. BIOS is great for overclocking. Lots of voltage adjustments. I easily attained 2.70 Ghtz on a 2.40 Ghtz Core 2 Quad with a +1 deg C rise in CPU temp.

Underrated mobo

M. Deale, Amazon
24 September 2009
  • Summary: To the best of my knowledge this is the ONLY mobo that uses the Intel ICH10 "DO" chipset. If not the only mobo then it is certainly the least expensive. What's so important about "DO"?

A generally solid board

Anonymous, Newegg
6 August 2009
  • Summary: Despite it's few annoyances this is a very good board. I haven't had any major issues with it which could not be worked around. ASUS did good here. With this board I have, a Q6600, 2 x ( 2 x 2GB ) RAM, 4 500GB WD Blacks, a 73GB Raptor, and a 7900GS running both Linux 2.6 and Windows 7.
  • Pros: Overall this is a very solid board. Running with a Q6600 ( 2.4ghz quad core ), and 8GB of RAM this is like a rock. For the most part, everything works as it should.
  • Cons: There are only a few minor issues I have with this board. First it seems that of the 8 SATA ports, you can really only use 6. The other 2 are only to be used in what seems to boil down to over-hyped hardware RAID 0. Second is a bit more of an annoyance, every so often maybe 1/4 of boots. The hard...

Solid Board, Good Performer

Gregory R., Newegg
5 August 2009
  • Summary: I'm running Windows 7 RC, so have had a difficult time getting drivers for the ASUS utilities. Hopefully the will be out with, or before, the release to market.
  • Pros: It worked the first time, right out of the box. No BIOS updates. No tweaking. It just worked. Lots of IO. From USB ports to SATA ports.
  • Cons: I haven't yet achieved a working overclock. That comes down more to my overclocking knowledge, and lack thereof, the the board. But it does have the easy overclock settings in the BIOS, and so far, none have worked.

Decent Motherboard

Oscar D., Newegg
25 July 2009
  • Pros: This motherboard has a cool design with good heat sinks allowing the board to cool properly. The BIOS is very easy to use to overclock and still runs stable.
  • Cons: Like all MoBos (Motherboards) it has some quirks. The quirk I had was incompatibility with my USB 2.0 keyboard. When I started the MoBo with my USB keyboard plugged in, the computer would FREEZE at boot time at the BIOS screen ("Press Tab to see the post messages, Del to enter setup") and it woul...

Great Board

Stephen C., Newegg
15 July 2009
  • Summary: It is still a great board, and having one drive independent from my array is not all that bad.
  • Pros: Nice overclocking, easy to use.
  • Cons: Two of the SATA ports are dedicated to the Drive Expert. You can't connect the DVD ROM to one of these, and since I have 5 hard drives, I can only run four of them in my RAID array. The fifth has to be plugged in one of the drive expert ports, which can't be part of the array.

User Review

Anonymous, Newegg
5 June 2009
  • Summary: delayed booting. do to slow recognition of sata devices, otherwise runs really well
  • Pros: a good board to run a core 2 quad in
  • Cons: takes 30 seconds to recognize the sata drives on boot, don't know why, I have flashed the bois, didn't help, should be instantanous recognition of sata devices, but it isn't, don't know if my having a treabyte drive has anything to do with it
