Power Supply compatibility

Mark S., Newegg
16 June 2009
  • Summary: This board also supports the remote management modules. These are pretty great if the server is remote. New Egg doesn't sell them though.
  • Pros: I really liked the cabling for the extra sata ports. I didn't expect it. The number of drives this board supports is hard to imagine! I used it with a NORCO 4 U case with the internal 11 3.5 drives.
  • Cons: It worked with a corsair power supply, had trouble at first because it woudn't boot with the Antec power supply. The Antec was brand new 650+ and booted other boards just fine. I actually RMA'd the board thinking it was the motherboards fault. Who would have thought that Power Supplies that work ...

  • Pros: As far as I'm concerned this has been a great board. I'm running a C2Q Q8200 with 4GB Ram and Windows Home Server. I haven't had a single issue with this board. Everything just installed as it should. The system has been running strong now for 6+ months.
  • Cons: It has Broadcom NIC's instead of Intel - but they still work reasonably well.

Bad Board

RASIK L., Newegg
22 February 2009
  • Summary: if you buy it - install and test it right away - the service at Newegg is the best - including if you have to get RMA. i am not sure it is worth the re-stocking fee + shipping just to see it fail
  • Pros: unbelievable price for the features. i forgot there is no free lunch. even amongst the ASUS boards this is an unbelievable deal. the ASUS people were very friendly and helpful and agreed right away to RMA replacement - sent same day by airmail. refused refund. Very hard to get tech support - was ...
  • Cons: i did not trust my judgement that the board was bad. got an expert to help out. he confirmed the board is bad. it ran without problems very fast - but would not maintain the SAS and repeatedly gave hard drive errors. the whole process took more than 30 days so cannot return to NEWEGG and ASUS say...
