Reviewing motherboards can be a tough job. A simple truth of computing is that very little actually separates comparable products when run at the same speed, and for those not pushing their system to the overclocking limit, choosing the right motherboard comes down to price as well as what you get for your money. We here at HardwareLogic have always advocated getting the best bang for your buck, and being a site that focuses more on features and value, than pure... Read more
With the release of the new BIOS that fixes the issues with the P5B Deluxe motherboard and Crossfire on the Prescott CPUs, there isn't a reason not to recommend this board for the included features, as it scores over 40 on our Features chart with integrated Wi-Fi, Crossfire (though limited by the 4X lanes on the second PCI Express x16 slot), 8 SATA ports, and the other features that makes this board outstanding. The overclock I was able to achieve on the CPU we use for... Read more
A few weeks ago, we reviewed the high end board from ASUS, the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe featuring the 975X chipset. Today, we take a look at its little brother the P5B Deluxe based on the 965P chipset. Read more
So to summarize my experience with the ASUS P5B Deluxe in one word, it would be "remarkable". Even during my extreme overclocking sessions, the system never failed to at least boot to BIOS. Speaking of that, the manner in which this system would reboot after significant changes to the BIOS is quite interesting. It would rev up, shut down, rev up...then... Read more
I have good vibes about this board. With a solid set of features, and everything I'd use I would consider purchasing this board to accompany a Core 2 Duo processor: 6 SATA 3Gbps ports, 8 USB 2.0, Firewire, a passively cooled chipset and onboard WiFi. CrossFire, or even SLI, is just too expensive for a casual gamer like myself to justify the cost, but I would consider spending a decent amount of cash on a good third party hardware RAID card. The second PCI-Express x16... Read more
A very well laid out motherboard, as a system builder it has everything where it should be. The components are very solid, clearly labelled (both on the pcb and within the manual) and the lack of any fans means it's absolutely silent. Some of the extras that come with the board are quite useful like the Q-Connet (a nice bridge for connecting the Power, Reset, Speaker etc wires). It looks good being all black. Read more
