  • Excerpt: As far as Intel chipsets go there are two mainstream types - the 845PE and the E7205, both chipsets are very good, one is aimed at the normal user and the other at the enthusiast or heavy user. The Asus P4G8X we are looking at today consists of the E7205 chipset, otherwise known as the Granite Bay and is the second board we have looked at following this chipset.

ASUS P4G8X Review

FiringSquad

  • Conclusion: Intel was the last chipset manufacturer to jump on the DDR memory bandwagon, yet here it is, first to market with a dual-channel DDR chipset for the Pentium 4 (we’re not counting the high-end E7501 Xeon chipset). It’d be hard to argue that the “Granite Bay” chipset isn’t fast. More specifically, the ASUS P4G8X is one of the fastest in our menagerie of motherboards.

Asus P4G8X

Active-Hardware
20 April 2009
  • Conclusion: The Asus P4G8X is, without any other word, one of the best motherboard which was given to me to test. It is of an astonishing stability and that under all the conditions to which it was submitted during the tests. All the adjustments available in Bios will make Overclockers very happy. Everything is there to reach top unequalled performances; from processor Vcore to FSB. The hardware and software packages are complete.
  • Pros: Expensive, Not available everywhere
  • Cons: Jumperless design, 4 Gig memory, BIOS-adjustable Vcore, and DRAM voltages, Excellente performance, Integrated Serial ATA controller, Integrated USB 2.0 controller, Integrated Ethernet controller, Integrated IEEE1394 controller

ASUS P4G8X Deluxe (E7205) motherboard

Hardware Zone
3 November 2008
  • Conclusion: The new ASUS P4G8X is indeed a very feature packed product based on Intel's latest workstation chipset known as the Granite Bay (E7205). The board is just packed with on-board features ranging from the latest Gigabit Ethernet to Serial ATA RAID. It's a dream board that comes with all the stuff you'll ever need to build a rather powerful system based on just DDR266 memory.

Asus P4G8X Deluxe

PC Authority
12 March 2006
  • Summary: A little lacking in the feature department, the P4G8X Deluxe is lean in some big areas. Short 800MHz, DDR400 or DDR333 support, its biggest selling points are its BlueMagic PCI slot, inclusion of PC-cillin antivirus software, and ASUS PC Probe for system monitoring.
