Summary: EXCELLENT Mobo. I can't believe how easy they made everything! I was expecting all the instructions to be with the various components, and some were, but this little sucker had instructions for EVERYTHING! First time builder, and I am very happy with this purchase. It looks awesome and has a cool red LED outline around the sides of it, so keep that in mind while picking a case, because I wish I got a less flashy one. BIOS is excellent on this thing as well.
Summary: During my experience plugging in all the cords I needed, I found out that since my case fan has a 3 pin header, and all the fan headers on the motherboard has 4 pin headers, I have no case fan installed. So far, it has been fine. But someday I fear the CPU will overheat other parts in the computer, causing anything to be damaged if overheated.
Excerpt: Asus Maximus ROG Series...... that pretty much sums it up. Asus motherboards are awesome. ROG Series are top of the line for overclocking and gaming. This is the VI series so it's a z87 chipset. A more recent version of this motherboard has been released, the Asus Hero VII which is z97. However, the Hero VI can run the latest z97 compatible Intel Core processors like the 4790 or 4790K with no problems if you just update the bios first.
Summary: Looks like a lot of people are happy with this board, and I'm very happy with most ASUS products. Mine unfortunately has severe stability issues. It's okay, it happens. What isn't OK is the support I'm getting from ASUS. They tell me to clear CMOS by removing the battery and report back. Fine. The next night, despite giving the Indian techs my case ID, they ask me questions I've already answered 3 times already. Keep a copy-paste of all your support logs.
Summary: had a problem connectin the gpu to the primary slot yet connecting to the secundary one worked ok... having a problem also with the cpu fan. bios indicates the it has a cpu fan error yet investigation leads me nowhere...
Summary: Bought this in April and installed in May when I built my computer. It had some great reviews. Well it totally died last week and I am dealing with ASUS for an RMA and it is not pleasant at all. I will not be buying another ASUS MB ever again. After doing some research it seems that with ASUS if it lasts longer than 3 months you are golden, otherwise you're SOL. I was almost there.
Summary: The board died after only 8 months. I called the support line, and after telling "Jane" (whom I could barely understand) that yes I had indeed done all the diagnostic steps, they couldn't RMA the hardware because I didn't have another power supply to swap out "to be completely sure it is the board." Despite being a long time Asus customer, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
