Summary: So the other reviews and description sum up the features of the board pretty well, but I wanted to post my own experience with the board in an attempt to assist any people that may be planning a configuration similar to my own, potentially even dissimilar hardware as I tried several configurations in my attempts to get things working. If you plan to use Windows 8(.1), do not get this main board. I spent most of the recent four-day weekend attempting to get it running.
Summary: I am now on my third attempt at this board. The first one I received had issues with the CPU getting power and the second one's on-board audio went out after about a month. We will see if the third one lasts...
Summary: I would label myself as an advanced user of computing on multiple platforms. However, admittedly, I purchased this as part of my first computer build experience. The board works really well, with a ton of features packed in. However there is one MAJOR FLAW. This board shipped without the cable for the OC Panel and I have had zero luck tracking one down.
Pros: This motherboard has helped me to overclock my CPU, Memory chips and my video card with no problems at all. I was initially hesitant to buying it due to seeing quite a few people that had problems with it from on these reviews but as I looked around with other leading motherboard makers I saw the same problems, so I figured I'd try it. The mother board has worked great and it continues to work great. Worth a buy in my book.
Cons: Pricey, board but one place you should never go cheap on is your motherboard.
Pros: Looks snazzy. Lots of SATA ports. Aside from that, it's a fairly standard Z87 board, believe it or not. The RAM slots and PCI_E slots are fairly vanilla in their placement.
Cons: The OC dongle, while it looks cool, is not very useful. Indeed, it's rather bothersome. It doesn't really show accurate temps (I've seen as much as 10 degree differences between my CPU temp in bios or using ASUS software, and the OC dongle). The cable that connects it to the motherboard is also incredibly loose, it is prone to falling out.
Summary: Ok I'm going to keep this short and sweet. all these other reviews are more like novels.. Pros: Awesome board with all the bells and whistles. Very nice looking board with plenty of room for components built in MPCIE dual port with WiFi and Blutooth 4.0 Deamon tools included free Cons: THE PRICE! OC Panel is pretty lack luster, serious OC-ers will not have a need or real use for it.
Pros: features board has all an overclocker could want or need to tweak settings, ROG extras, construction, BIOS/UEFI, ROG connect to flash the BIOS, ample SATA III and USB 3.0 ports, this board has all you would need.
Cons: price, board has a lot, overkill for the average user, but for power user, enthusiast it delivers options, just the price is still a bit high PCI 3 x 16 support is cut down depending on what slots you use so read the specs for a multi-GPU set up.
