Works as expected but a bit pricey

Matthew L., Newegg
10 March 2014
  • Summary: A good motherboard but I can't help feeling angry about the rebate becasue I was not given the correct peices to send them so now I am out 50 bucks on an overpriced mobo.
  • Pros: Looks great performs well has a lot of PCI-e slots
  • Cons: Expensive nearly impossible to get the rebate and it took awhile to get the network port working with my linux box.

User Review

Ronald L., Newegg
19 November 2013
  • Pros: Thought i learned my lessons with the P5NT deluxe, but bought ASUS again. This board came out of the gate like a thoroughbred, but couldn't finish the race so i had to shoot it. Owned 9 months with little to no problems then caught the endless reboot syndrome. Q code 56. After 2 calls to ASUS the...
  • Cons: Died after 9 months.

A$U$ Bad Customer Service

Timothy L., Newegg
21 December 2012
  • Summary: Intel Core i7-3770K, ASUS HD7970-DC2-3GD5, Ultimate, G.SKILL Ripjaw Z Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1866, Enermax Platimax 850W, Windows 7, 64-bit. M$ apathetic lack of USB 3.0 native support is appalling: USB 3.0 was on the market before Windows 7!
  • Pros: Stable, for what works.
  • Cons: False Advertising: 1) Advertised as having the ability to encode DTS, after searching the web and emailing ASUS support three weeks ago (for which the only reply I received was a survey), there is no way to enable DTS Connect. 2) Advertised as being able to communicate with a SSD drive (at SATA 2...

Love the Board, when they work!

Rochester P., Newegg
19 December 2012
  • Summary: I don't understand the mentality behind the replacement policy. If a board at this level has an issue out of the box, Asus should just replace it, no questions asked. I do a lot of custom builds at my PC repair store, I usually use Intel boards just so I don't have to deal with Asus if I have an...
  • Pros: This is my 223rd Asus custom build, and my 25th Maximus Board. Love the features, layout and looks.
  • Cons: Board arrived two days ago DOA (Dead on Arrival). Contacted newegg, they tell me I have to ship board back for testing before they replace it; major pain. This is the problem with Asus, they build a good board when they work, but they have bad QC and the policy they have is to replace a new board...

Nice Board

Lacey P., Newegg
15 November 2012
  • Summary: Not bothering to return it since my CPU and memory are all configured and happy. Too much trouble, and the LGA 1155 platform doesn't have much time left before it's obsolete anyway.
  • Pros: Lots of features you might have to use slots for on other boards. WiFi, Bluetooth, Thunderbolt, etc. Lots of overclocking features, but for people who want to do fairly modest overclocks, you can (and probably prefer) to input all the settings yourself.
  • Cons: The slot you're meant to use for your secondary card if you're using SLI or Crossfire is defective on my board. Took me forever to narrow down why I was having all sorts of issues when I enabled SLI. I used another slot, and now my 680s are much happier in SLI, but no board deserves more than 3 e...

Maximus V EXTREME

Sergei Y., Newegg
24 October 2012
  • Summary: MB works great so far without (mPCIe/mSATA combo card).
  • Pros: Great motherboard but... Please read Cons.
  • Cons: Bought this MB at Fry's, sorry Newegg.(better price). Great motherboard but... In order to make it work I had to remove mPCIe Combo™ (mPCIe/mSATA combo card). Will not post or boot with this card inserted. First I thought it was a Power Supply, Cpu or memory problem, or MB was dead. It was a real...

Extended ATX feature missing from it`s description

kevin, Amazon
17 May 2013
  • Summary: I ordered this Motherboard but was disappointed to find out it was an Extended ATX board which will not fit standard PC Case`s. Really disappointed as the Description on Amazon fails to clarify this most important fact. Make sure you have a big enough case to house this Beast .
