Summary: I have two similar boards, M5A97 R2.0, that work great but there is one thing you have to change in the BIOS or the board will randomly lock up. You have to turn off Load Line Calibration. I don't know why, but both other boards would lock up until this was turned off. This board did the same thing.
Pros: This board has almost everything I was looking for - SATA III, 5.2 GT/s bus speed for faster graphics, 140 W CPU support, four memory slots.
Cons: Does not have USB 3.0, but that is not a big deal for me. There is one minor tweak you have to do in the BIOS in order to make the board stable (see other thoughts), but I already knew that.
Pros: Worked perfect right out of the box, easy setup and came on 1st try. Easiest MOBO I ever installed. Till now alway used DFI LanPraty MOBOS so yes this was an upgrade. Win 7 64 bit made it easy to update too .. 2 Weeks in and loving it
Summary: Can Asus help with no boot into the BIOS ??? I would appreciate any help you could provide.
Pros: This mobo replaced my older A8N-e which seemed to be slowing down. Also the cpu did not support Virtualization Technology Support. New mobo time. So I upgraded mobo, cpu AMD FX-4350 and ram GSkill the ram iI use.
Cons: Not sure it is a con ot not BUT I can't seem to get back into the BIOS. When the system boots up it just sits there and I hit F2 and/or Delete....NOTHING.?? I have to repower the pc again which seems to get it to boot up to windows 10. I would like to get back into the BIOS to adjust a few settin...
Summary: Look very closely at the "CPU_fan" connection. I initially had it hooked into the wrong plug. On startup it will give you a "fan error." Simply shut down and connect to proper connection at the top edge of the motherboard. Its the center connection of the three. ;-)
Pros: Definitely best bang for your buck motherboard. Works perfect. Very versatile. No instructions needed. All connections listed on motherboard. Pretty much plug and play.
Cons: I didn't feel this would be worth an egg or even deserve to be in the cons section but the faceplate that is visible from the rear of the case, did not fit in the case that I purchased. Very minor setback.
Pros: I bought all the parts, like the PSU,CPU,GPU,Mobo (this), everything except ram. I never really got around finishing it. 2 years later, today. I bought corsair vengeance Ram, and a Western Digital 1TB hdd, and the mobo is running solid. Its been about 1 month since ive got it running, everything ...
Cons: I dont like how it does not support SLI, Green light on mobo never turns off, I/O shield looks childish, id rather have it black. Performance wise, no cons at all. Be careful with the USB 3.0 connector, if you have a long GPU it might be in the way and you'll run into some troubles. I have the Re...

Summary: for what i paid (and i wouldn't pay full price for this..there are better options) its a fantastic and reliable board. ocing easy and great pcie 16 port. easy bios and recognizes ram/ssds/hdds/br drive/ etc... easily. i must buy for around 40-60$
Pros: was 40$ on flash sale oc'd an fx 8320 to 4.4 easily. (will go higher with liquid cooling) ram imediatly recognized (currectly running 2 8gb hyper fury at 1866) bios is the best i've used yet. so simple and the mouse cursor use ability is great. my gpu is a xfx r9 390... no problems with install a...
Cons: only a lil con with the lack on usb 3.0 (i knew this going in and with all the pci and pcie ports on this thing was easy to find a 10$ 3.0 pcie card (added two usb 3.0 to back of case and has a usb 3.0 20pins for front of case cable) and one more con is minor as well- the sata connectors 2 of the...
Summary: My friends love asus and recommend me to buy this motherboard. I thought it was awesome when it was working and super easy to navigate. I think it'll be a long time till I buy another one of Asus products. If you buy this motherboard buy a warranty better to be on the safe side.
Pros: -Great when it worked -Awesome customer support -Bios sweet
Cons: When I first bought it had it tested at my friends house with both of his monitors was only able to make it post once. Next day reseated everything again but this time with only one stick of ram. Then the baby was working like a charm...for a week. New problem arises where one of the usb fails to...
Summary: Almost thought it was a DOA Motherboard. I put everything together and only the fans spun. No post, no nothing. I decided to troubleshoot and after doing everything again, I found a small problem with the AM3+ socket on this board.
Pros: This is the second M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard I have purchased. I absolutely love this board. The first board I bought for my friend and the second one for my wife. The performance of this board is outstanding. For a 970 chipset, the speed of the board keeps up with my M5A99FX PRO R2.0. I have a FX-6...
Cons: AM3+ socket almost defective on this board. This was not the case for my friends board, but is for my wife's board. See other thoughts.
