Awesome Little Mobo

David K., Newegg
17 November 2011
  • Summary: I wish the bottom PCI slot was instead another PCIe x16 2.0 slot so I could run crossfire in my portable rig. 1 card still meets my needs though.
  • Pros: -Works as advertised -Core unlocker turned my dual core cpu into a quad core
  • Cons: -Core unlocker made me unable to monitor my CPU temps except through an external sensor. My CPU runs very cool, but it was concerning to open AMD Overdrive and SIW to see my CPU temps as a flat 0C for all cores. This might just be a CPU flaw so I won't dock an egg and losing temp reads in exchang...

  • Summary: This board is great on the account that i can always upgrade from my quad cpu to a six core later.
  • Pros: LOVE ASUS which is one of the main reasons i bought the board. The memory ok is a unique feature i like. The core unlocker is works great. It was very easy to install. Overall this little board packs a powerful punch.

Replace your OEM HP board with this!

Sunit D., Newegg
14 October 2011
  • Summary: Can't beat the egg for reviews, product selection, service, and price!
  • Pros: I used this board to replace a failed Pegatron M2N78-LA (Violet6 -GL8E) which came as the OEM board in my HP p6000 series machine. Removing the CPU from the old board and installing on the new was a cinch with a bit of Arctic Silver 5. I'm not a power user so I have not used any of the BIOS tweak...
  • Cons: Would be nice if the 4 pin CPU_FAN connector would do PWM for a 3 pin CPU fan. I've ordered a new 4 pin fan to replace just the fan on my AMD OEM heatsink. Not enough of a con to knock an egg off.

Love this MoBo!

James S., Newegg
11 September 2011
  • Summary: This is my sixth or seventh scratch-built computer and everything seemed to come together easily. Even with all four cores running, heat never goes above 97(F) on either the Motherboard or the processor, so components which generate heat are nicely separated.
  • Pros: Micro-ATX form factor is good for smaller tower and compact cases. Core unlocker is a dream; unlocked all four cores easily and, with my AMD X2 Phenom turned into an X4, this baby RIPS! This is my second AsusTek Mobo and I like the brand. I also have an Asus eeePC Netbook and like it, too. The ac...
  • Cons: Manual, as pointed out, could surely be better. What, for example, do some of those obscure values you see when you are configuring the BIOS mean? I'd like to know. May not be a good motherboard for someone without prior build experience. Other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever. The manu...

Great Motherboard, mediocre manual

Joseph P., Newegg
6 September 2011
  • Pros: Fast, USB 3.0. 4 slots for memory. 6 sata ports, well done on many levels. Asus rocks.
  • Cons: My knowledge of ATX power vs this motherboard's manual and the Raidmax power supply. I bought this as part of a newegg supercombo. The excellent raidmax case had apparently a 20pin power plug, and a 4 pin. It was NOT obvious there were other 4 pin power plugs to put into the 12v power-in on the m...
