Summary: Applying the firmware update made a big difference in OC stability and many missing features magically showed up.
Pros: Runs well, chipset and NB/SB are cool. Overclocks well and has plenty of detailed settings with very granular adjustments, but this is what I have come to expect from every Asus product.
Cons: I meant to buy an 890FX board and got this one by mistake. Not a huge deal, but I had to do a firmware update out of the box for the board to "officially" support my Athlon II 1090T, but it still booted and ran stable with all six cores showing prior to doing so. No USB 3 or SATA3.
Summary: Probably won't buy another ASUS motherboard.
Pros: Their website for downloading drivers isn't fun, but they do have ways to update your bios. I upgraded my bios to an edition to unlock the fourth core for most AMD triple core processors. It works, and now everything runs smoother without me having to go deep into bios and changing settings that ...
Cons: Too expensive. The soundport for this thing broke today, and MY TWO YEAR WARRANTY ENDED SIX DAYS AGO. THANKS ASUS. GREAT JOB.
Pros: No issues at all. Everything fit and booted right up. Even mounted in the existing mounts of my older Asus bd. Never failed to boot or even crash. Very stable. If you use good quality memory and PS you should never have a problem.
Cons: Video card covers the next slot in line. Doesn't come with com port bracket/connector. Standard com port bracket isn't pin for pin compatible. Must be purchased from Asus. Couldn't get my front panel USB to work with an MP3 player or SD card reader but a joystick will work. Go figure. Would have ...
Summary: I wish it had USB 3 and two RJ45 connections, but it does fine the way it is.
Pros: This mobo is great and has served its purpose for my upgrade last year. Having used it for a year, I can say that it has delivered the performance I expect out of an ASUS mobo. Easy to setup with a DIY build, this thing works almost perfect out of the box without any additional BIOS doctoring.
Cons: It took me a little while to match the voltages I needed to OC my ram, but after a few trial and errors, I was able to make it work smoothly and Windows 7 run very well.
Summary: I can't see my self taking an egg away for the RMA but shame on Asus for designing an expensive mother board for old cases.
Pros: Everybody loves to have options and this motherboard's BIOS has a tone! The copper heat sinks look slick and has been running smooth and cool for a month now.
Cons: - Had to update the BIOS/chipset to get the new AMD 1090T to read properly in the system. This alone brought the windows 7 scoring from a 4 to a 7. - The first Motherboard I got was DOD which was surprising. Iv ordered many times from Newegg and never needed to do an RMA. Of course getting a repl...
Summary: I bought this board Sept 2009. The only thing that would make it better is 6g/sec sata 3, which I can buy a card and 6g/sec hard drive to do. It still costs less than an intel machine, and I had a ton of fun building it.
Pros: I just want to tell my story. Bought this board and PHIIx4 945. Booted right up! Later wanted to upgrade so I bought a PhIIx4 965c3. Wouldn't boot. Put 945 back in, updated latest bios, put 965c3 back in and it booted, but got an error with windows. I thought "That's strange". It worked alright f...
Cons: I did some minor overclocking (mushkin ram to 1600 with correct timings and increase in wattage for my ram, CPU 18X multiplier and NB settings, and overclocked 4770 in ATI overdrive) and managed a 15700 3DMark06 score.
Summary: Will post more info once I get the new board. :)
Pros: Mother is VERY sweet looking! Everything worked fine right out of the box with the exception of the Sata/IDE bus(See Cons). CPU and RAM worked just fine and the BIOS was easy to understand. RMA'ed the MoBo for a new one without any issues! Newegg rocks!
Cons: Sata/IDE bus was toast. Tried everything I could think of for two days trying to get Windows 7 to install. Everytime I would get a " HDD or optical drive" error. Tried 2 optical drives and 3 different HDD's. No luck. Was able to run Ubuntu from my USB drive with no problems. Would not install to ...
Summary: As I said this is a overclocking monster! Make sure you build it in a very cool tower. Heat can be a HUGE problem.
Pros: I have overclocked this board using a Phenom 965 CPU to 4.1 GZ with no problems. Crossfire using two 5830 cards lets me play any game with full graphics. I can not see a need for an upgrade in near future( A first for me, I have to have the fastest and best at all times).
Cons: Reason for a star less then perfect. Asus is having a problem with there newest bios upgrades. The newest six core amds need to have the 3107 bios, released in May-10. This bios release is in trouble( See Asus forums). I agree with the last reviewer, Asus should have the newest Bios needed to use...
Summary: didn't want to tear my machine apart so I added a pci-e ethernet card, not a big deal with the other +s CoolerMaster HAF 932 AMD 3.4 quad Sapphire Toxic ATI 5850 1gb gpu 4x2=8gb ram w7 ult sys hdd 300gb 10k rpm data hdd 1tb 7200 rpm
Pros: great configuration, 5 sata, a few 3 pin fan connections, great instructions, everything recognized from first start
Summary: Decent sized manual which (and I dont know what previous reviewers are talking about here) lays out everything simply and understandable.
Pros: Easy to install. Came with everything any one would need. Booted up first time and every time so far. Read my ram and phenom ii x4 3.4 perfectly. OC'd ram to 1600 quickly and easily. On board power and reset buttons are nice for testing inside the case. Plus they glow a pretty color, haha. DDR3 H...
Cons: Realtek audio: The audio drivers for this board are just bothersome. Realtek cant make anything simple (almost every Mobo I've had has been ASUS and had realtek). Their audio drivers over ride Windows 7 nice features (like remembering different volume settings for speakers vs headphones and switc...
