ASUS M4A79T Deluxe

Jeffrey G., Newegg
1 March 2011
  • Summary: Newgg doesn't want it back, and I really didn't want to have to deal with ASUS customer service.. Replacing with an MSI 890FX board.
  • Pros: Started right up with little to no problems.
  • Cons: About 3 days after originally installing the motherboard, one of my ram slots went bad. Put my memory in a different machine to make sure it wasn't the RAM, and it was fine. So I just took those 2 sticks out and made do with what was left. Roughly 3 weeks later I have random lockups when playing ...

Mission Impossible

Eric P., Newegg
7 February 2011
  • Summary: I am having trouble with video staggering using 2 slots (1 and 3) at 16x. Not sure why, I am using latest drivers and Windows 7, 64 bit. Not sure if this is a keeper or not - I may have to return it to the mothership.
  • Pros: Lots of features, robust BIOS with CPU and DRAM adjusts.
  • Cons: NO way anyone will find a way to use 4 PCI-EX slots on this motherboard. ASUS was not thinking when they designed this. In the day of single slot video cards it still would be a challenge to use 4 slots. The 4x PCI-EX slots make the rest of the board unusable. Lost PCI slots due to dual slot vide...

-.-

Nathan S., Newegg
11 December 2010
  • Pros: Good layout on the SATA, usb/firewire back plate, good layout.
  • Cons: Was the most complicated board I ever got. 2 eggs because I can not use my raided hard drives, the 64 bit raid drivers from the website do not load on the windows 7 installer.

defective item....

Kevin M., Newegg
5 December 2010
  • Summary: Used with AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU, and 4GB of corsair DDR3 1333 RAM, along with 1TB WD black carver and 2 360GB seagate drives. Always thought ASUS is a quality brand....definitely DID NOT expect this kind of things to happen from ASUS, especially looking at all those positive reviews.
  • Pros: looks good, and got it cheap during thanksgiving sale
  • Cons: Defective item, upon power on, the board takes forever to get to the BIOS windows or to display manufacture logo, often stuck on trying to recognizing my hard drives, Windows 7 cannot install, because the installer stalls after the "windows setup is loading" screen, can't even see the "install no...

6-core users BEWARE!

Darla A., Newegg
30 May 2010
  • Summary: If a board is going to advertise that is compatible with Socket AM3 processors shouldn't it be compatible with all of them out of the box?
  • Pros: I'm sure its a great board when it works. Lots of people here have positive things to say about it.
  • Cons: I am unsure who is to blame here Newegg or ASUS but this board will NOT support the newest 6 core processor out of the box! Check your bios revision to make it is greater or equal to 3107 otherwise you will not receive any video out of your system. I find it hard to believe that these boards woul...
