Summary: This motherboard came to me brand new and it looked sweet. I put it into my tower with a AM3 Phenom II x3 720 BE, 430w Thermaltake psu, and an ati 4850 graphics card, 1TB Hard drive, 4 sticks of 1gb ram which were compatible with the motherboard-- and it doesn't even POST. No beeps, no video. I took it to the shop and it was confirmed that the motherboard was bad when I got it.
Summary: I purchased this board with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor, but could not get the rig to post. After doing some additional research, this problem is VERY common for this board. This has been an extraordinary headache to try to use. There are different BIOSes available for this motherboard, with varying levels of support for processors. Most of the relatively lower-end AM3 processors will be supported by all BIOS versions.
Summary: Pros: Nice looking board. It will hopefully work well once I get my bios updated to where it should have been out of the box. Cons: DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD IF YOU ARE USING THE NEWEST 125 W AMD Phenom X4 BE. Here I am typing this review on a borrowed laptop because Asus was too lazy to recall dated boards. The board did not ship with the latest bios, and is incompatible out of the box with the previously mentioned chip.
RAID Failure. Awful Technical and Customer Support
12 March 2010
Summary: The RAID capability of this MOBO does NOT function correctly. It will report a failed disk (you get to guess which one since it does not tell you) when no disk has failed. When you replace the "failed" disk, it does not rebuild the RAID. There are no messages of ANY kind during the RAID rebuild. You have to take it on faith that the process even ran.
Summary: OK i bought this Motherboard for its cross fire features and the core unlocker! I was so psyched when i got it all together. I turned it on and!........NOTHING. I got a dead board! I got very upset because i purchased it way before all my other parts and now i cant return it to Amazon. So i have to go through an RMA with Asus and pray i can still get a new one under the manufacturers Warranty. Tip: Save your money up and buy everything at once!
