Always BSOD since I've owned it

Kevin K., Newegg
14 July 2013
  • Pros: Not feeling any at the moment since I always get BSODs and have to reinstall windows 7
  • Cons: Have always gotten BSODs with this motherboard. I was able to put up with them since they were less frequent in the beginning. Now it's constant. One thing I noticed from the very beginning is that when the Windows logo came up there would be this strange artifact - the logo seemed to have traili...

ASUS No Help

Doug F., Newegg
19 February 2013
  • Summary: I am done buying ASUS products. Beware of ASUS customer service and repairs.
  • Pros: Work for about 2 year, Nice Bios, never had an issue worked prefect. Purchased it on 7/6/2010
  • Cons: After 2 years I noticed the PC would shutdown. I thought the power supply was the issue after a support session with Microsoft. I replaced it but that didn't solve the problem even switched out the monitor. Finally I did research other people having the same issue with their ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD...

Great start - yet crashes out

Eric P., Newegg
9 December 2012
  • Summary: Not impressed.
  • Pros: Easy to install. Everything was straight forward. Nothing much outstanding, yet will see why when seeing Cons.
  • Cons: Everything was running fantastic for about a year, then all hell started to break loose. Constant BSOD's if anything over 4GB of memory on 2nd channel set. CPU was not overclocked on this board, memory had been replaced, seperate video card was tested as well. Power supply was also replaced. Proc...

Has major issues with BSOD

Nathan B., Newegg
3 October 2012
  • Summary: It has BSOD's. All random reasons. Tested the temp. RAM, CPU, GPU, HDD, and installed 3 different OS's. I have no indication on how this issue happens. PC runs amazing but it will just randomly BSOD. I had ASUS RMA the board, then it was fine for 2 months then did it again then worsened.
  • Pros: Has great features. Good bios setup UI.
  • Cons: ASUS. Redundant issues

Motherboard-functionality

Geoff R., Newegg
27 July 2012
  • Summary: I accessed chat support, email support, FAQ's and other resources provided by the manufacturer. I had been an advocate for ASUS in the past (I owned an ASUS laptop, ASUS HD monitor, ASUS motherboard, etc...
  • Pros: * ASUS provided multiple responses to my inquiries. * Responses were timely.
  • Cons: * LAN port on motherboard never worked. I overlooked that because I simply put in a spare LAN card. * Larger issue was failure of the motherboard to allow the PC to go into "sleep" mode. Support either lacked detail or were instructions for a different motherboard model altogether. Spent countles...

Terrible

Don C., Newegg
20 December 2011
  • Summary: Did not want to give this any eggs but at least it worked for 1 month without issues.
  • Pros: Zero pros
  • Cons: This mobo from the beginning was plagued with random lock ups. No rhyme or reason the system would suddenly freeze. No bsod or reboot it would just lockup and the speaker would make terrible noise. I blamed it on bad ram and replaced and verified proper timings but that did not resolve. Finally t...

Can't recommend asus

Darrick B., Newegg
28 August 2011
  • Summary: *continued* having given up on any kind of serious overclocking (I don't engage in the sort of tasks that can be served much further by going higher than 3.2ghz tbh). I can't see myself purchasing another asus board after the trouble with this one, coupled with Asus tech support being a right pain,...
  • Pros: installation and first post was a breeze, recognized everything right away, although my experience with recent boards would suggest this is the rule not the exception so meh, at least they got that part right. Was not DoA, but not what I would call fully functional.
  • Cons: Asus is known for sketchy audio drivers and this board is no exception, latency on both hd audio and ac 97 circuits. It had been suggested that this was a windows 7 issue, but the problem persisted across multiple driver/OS combinations (ubuntu, mint, 7) I would estimate stability on roughly 20% ...

JUNK, both the board and ASUS support

Pete D., Newegg
11 July 2011
  • Summary: go with another vendor. save pulling out your hair, rebuilding systems multiple times over, and waiting for support calls that are never returned. By experience, I have found GIGABYTE to be the best Mobos for my consulting needs. ZERO DOAs.
  • Pros: if it works, then that is your only "pro".
  • Cons: two boards failed within a year, running at stock speeds, and no unlocking. all sorts of errors and system hangs appeared. Repeated BSODs caused the OS to cripple and fail. source of all problems was this motherboard. RMA'd it after fighting a war with ASUS tech support to get a replacement. Had ...

Does the job for what I paid

Ronald L., Newegg
5 May 2011
  • Summary: I see they stopped selling this so you wont have to go through what im currently going though. Spend the extra money and get a better board, its worth it. Amazingly im still using the computer but have to reset it a few times to get it too boot up, lol.
  • Pros: It works
  • Cons: Within about 8 months I got the chassis intrusion fatal error, and video errors. The core unlocker seems to not want to activate all the cores about 3 times a week. Have to hard boot from blue screens, when reset will give me a couple short beeps, then beep constantly. Have to reset a couple more...

Poor Quality and Non-Existent Support

Ralph L., Newegg
14 March 2011
  • Summary: The first failure required four phone calls to tech support before they would concede that it was the fault of the board, and another to arrange for a replacement that didn't have to wait for me to ship the dead one back first (would have been 2 week turn-around).
  • Pros: Good Value and features. Very tunable, if overclocking is your thing. This would make a great mid-level system board for a great bang-for-the-buck system if...
  • Cons: The first one failed within 3 months. The second within 13 months. Possibly the worst tech support system on Earth. BTW this system is running at stock settings and runs VERY cool with idle temps at 30 - 35C, at least until the point that it fails :-)
