Summary: I bought this motherboard to replace my aging and less gamer oriented M2NPV-VM. My processor was an Athlon 5000+ black edition socket AM2, which i used to overclock my upping the multiplier. I later changed that processor to a Phenom 940 black edition which i have overclocked too without problems.
Summary: I've worked with 3 of these boards in the last 3 months and so far, none of them have had ANY issues. One of which I setup a RAID array and it was easy, though a little time consuming. The biggest surprise on this board was the integrated HD 3300. It's actually pretty good.
Pros: Very nice board and very capable. Crossfire works nice, supports Phenom II's and DDR2 1066 with no down clocking issues like some boards have been having. Very affordable for the performance you get. Integrated HD 3300 works well too.
Cons: Chipset does get a little warmer than the average board but then again I'm picky when it comes to heat. I did think it was weird that they are using the adjacent RAM slots together rather than alternating like my previous 2 boards but not that big of a deal
Summary: Wasn't too sure about the browser driven raid at first. I've always done all mine thru the bios until now.
Pros: Great Motherboard. Great performance. I have read the reviews for this MB and can honestly say i have had nothing but good to say about it from day one. I have had no overheating problems, no video problems, no bios problems...etc.
Summary: Express gate seems useless for most everyone. I didn't even install the software. Sounds like manufacturering issues are the main cause for the issues some have said they have run into.
Pros: box came with everything I needed to build a computer. No issues whatever like what some other reviewers have said they have been through. Very rock solid, but I do zero overclocking. Used in an engineering computer (advanced 3D modeling). The Hybrid CrossfireX allows me to use a gaming ATI video...
Summary: Good board, handled everything I've put to it so far
Pros: Great board, everything worked right out of the box. BIOS was already updated so I had no problem using a Phenom II 9550. having trouble installing all drivers on Win7 Beta, but Catalyst drivers from ATI work and Vista drivers seem to handle everything else.
Cons: Hard to find any 64 bit drivers other than those provided on Disc with the board, with a little searching on google and ASUS websites I was able to find compatible 64 XP or Vista drivers for sound
Summary: The Video jacks on the MB is not real stable / affixed to the MB, No way to mount to the case. could use more support. when plugging to the VGA port - if U push it on hard enough it will pull the pins out of the MB for the DVI port.
Pros: Im running x86_64 Mandriva Power Pack Linux Kernel 2.6.27 on this and have had no Issues for 6 months. COOLER MASTER Stacker 830 Case with 1000watt power supply 8gb Kingston HyperX memory DDR2 1600 ( 4 x 2gb ) AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor 2 x Promise SATA 300 TX4 Controllers 9 X Seagat...
Cons: none so far. Br care-full plugging in video to on-board connector.
Pros: This mother board is loaded it has onboard video with vga dvi and hdmi outputs, hd audio, gigabit lan, crossfire x capablity, support for 8 gigs ddr2 ram, 4 sata prots, and plenty of other peripheral connections. ive enjoyed the asus motherboards ive previously owned and this one follow suit.
Cons: maybe a few more sata slots for max hdd and sata disk drive capability.
Summary: Installed discreet card but it is nice to have a spare. (Would rather play new game on low or dig out a slightly older game than be stuck with solitaire on my smart phone) Still on the fence on Express Gate. Not sure if it’s really necessary for me.
Pros: Good bios features. Nice built in video card which I used in initial mb/cpu/memory testing. Layout of the board worked out for me nicely. My video card did cover the x1 slot. In fairness the card is a huge HD 4870X2 and it wasn’t a show stopper, just installed the sound card in one of the other x...
Cons: The Northbridge runs hot when gaming. Had read that in the reviews so knew it was coming. Will be adding a fan to it or including it in my water loop.
Summary: Have not powered it up yet, still waiting for a few other components.
Pros: Wonderfully packaged, extensive manual, well written. Plenty of cables. Have not powered it up yet, still waiting for a few other components. CPU went in fine, cooling tower attached properly, RAM slots are firmly fitting and locked down.
