Summary: -unit only spent 2 years as an active gaming system, and the last 3 years as a XBMC and file server inside a U4 case, serving over 15 Tb of data, I never had a crash, longest time online was 197 days without a reboot (due to an ram upgrade).
Pros: This units has spent its final years as a file server and XBMC interface and has not had a problem in the 5 years that I have owned it. -8GB of ddr 2 ram, I was able to run 4Gb by 2x2GB sticks -2x1Gbps NIC, easily bonded in ubuntu -8 sata ports (7 internal 1 external) -7.1 sound plugged right int...
Cons: -Ram could have been place half a centimeter away from the cpu, my large heatsink caused a problem -the 7th internal sata port was right next to the PCIe x16 slot which made it impossible to connect a cable when a card was installed. -the eSata port did not work a port multiplier, not real big bu...

Summary: I did buy this board open-box from Newegg (great bargain), so it didn't come with the Asus MB CDROM, which would have minimized a few headaches with the setup. It's just aggravating that ASUS doesn't have a 1-stop link where you can download the whole CD.
Pros: Lots of SATA 3Gb/s ports, 2 PCIe x16, thermal heat-pipe on chipset, RAID 0/1/5 with an easy config utility. Built-in IEEE1394, and overclocking tweak tools in the BIOS. Lots of bells and whistles.
Cons: LAN gripes: Still cannot make the High-speed LAN ports show up at all in WinXP Pro x64. Setting up winxp from 2 drives in a RAID1 required me to D/L a 65MB driver pack from asus.com and isolate out the 65kB worth of drivers needed for windows F6 bootup. No suppport of USB-FDD meant I was FORCED t...
Summary: Still worth buying if you ask me, especially if you have a sound card to transfer over (or you have the $$ to buy one anyways).
Pros: This card is top notch as far as cooling and performance goes, great amount of SATA connections, decent price
Cons: The onboard sound on this MB is AWFUL. There are constant pops and crackle sounds that occur and can be really annoying. I know there are many people with this board experiencing the same sound issues, among others.
Summary: I still love it. Its Fast and has everything i need on it.
Pros: Love it! It does everything i need it too with all my hardware.
Cons: The reason i give it a 4 out of 5 is because neither of the two On-Board Nforce Lan cards worked. Only reason is due to Vista. I purchased a gigabit Lan card and it works perfectly, but i shouldn't had to have done that. There website wasn't , much help on the issue either.
Summary: this is listed as an AM2 board here but the asus website says its AM2+/AM2 so i dunno
Pros: ive had no major problems with this board its run well under less than desirable conditions and has been solid
Cons: the biggest gripe i have is the placement of the only IDE connector its inline with the top PCIe position so when ya have a large card it gets in the way of the IDE cable if you have an 8800GTX you understand what i mean so i would recommend SATA optical drives with this to avoid the problem
