Summary: I'm just amazed people have issues with PC gaming at all given the longevity of my now weak build. Yet I can still max out AC at 1080p 30-40fps for example. I'm starting my build for 8th gen at the moment but I'm confident It will last even longer than this set up.
Pros: I've been running games on high to max settings for 7 years on this mobo, on less than recommended settings. 2x1 GB DDR2 800, AMD Atholon 64 X2 5600+ (Stock), PCI-E Nvidia 8800 Ultra, Sound Blaster X-Fi, Ageia PhysX PCI Card (Removed 3rd Yr), Vista 32 bit (1st 6 Yrs), Win7 64 bit (7th Yr on), My ...
Summary: Probably a fluke, have never heard of this happening esp. with ASUS.
Pros: Performed well for 3.5 years.
Cons: The plastic clip that your heatsink mounts to suddenly broke one day. I found out after my computer started randomly shutting down. The heatsink wasn't seated tight as one side of the AM2 clip where the heatsink clamp attaches to just broke off. I was able to replace it with a compatible replace ...
Pros: q-connector? even then i question its coolness...
Cons: really bad audio crackling, ran vista on it for about a month and locks up for no apparent reason. chip set is terrible. thought i could try and play through the audio and hopefully fix the locking up but its time for me to part with this "thing". save you $$ and get something with a better chip ...
Summary: Everything is well placed on this board, I made a sort of Frankenstien computer useing a mix of old and new parts, and it all work great. and I still have room for expansion.
Pros: ASUS makes the best. and this board proves it. Comes loaded. 4 SATA - 2 IDE - SLI - 4 DIMMS - 8 GB, DDR2. Awesome Board. Even came with a 4pin molex to SATA connector, which came in handy.
Cons: No real Cons, just that this board is getting to be old technology. Also it only came with 2 SATA cables and one was the bent kind, which can get in the way, but I had like 5 laying around. So All is good.
Pros: For the guy complaining about the RAM voltage. The RAM I have installed on this MB is rated at 2.1v and works perfectly fine. Please folks, know what you are talking about before knocking a product when you don't fully understand how it works.
Cons: People who complain about things they don't understand about this MB. Learn how to configure the MB properly, don't complain about the MB because of your own shortcommings.
Summary: just upgraded all my main components (motherboard, cpu, ram, vid card) and everything went together very nicely. no probs at all. ram voltage is fine for G.Skill F2-6400CL5D which i have 2x1GB of for now
Pros: All the features of todays technology (socket AM2, ddr2, pci-e, SLI), ASUS! PRICE!
Cons: none really. not a ton of BIOS features, but its got everything that you really NEED. If you're into overclocking just use nTune. I checked onboard sound just for the heck of it and mine was scrambled (before i downloaded the newest chipset drivers) but I planned on using my audigy card anyways s...
Summary: Upgraded from and ASUS A7N8X-X and an AMD 2700+. Now have this MB with AMD AM2 4400+. Can't say anything bad about ASUS. Far as i am concerned, they are #1 for motherboards!!
Pros: I have had this MB for about a month and a half now and i have not had one problem. Worked perfect right out of the box, everything was easy to set up and for people like me who do not have alot of money to spend on a great MB for light gaming this one is the way to go!
Cons: Not sure what happened, but right after i loaded windows and activated it, and Norton 07 i lost my internet connection and had to search for the driver on the MB disk, could not fix the problem just by reloading the nVidia drivers.
