Good performance and reliable

ZhengZH, Amazon
4 February 2013
  • Summary: Good product from famous brand ASUS. Running 24-7 well for a long time. Functional as mentioned. It's a good MB for setting up a HTPC or NAS. Although it price is high, but its value-for-money is acceptable. Recommend it to those who want to setup a HTPC or personal NAS.

Never again

John D., Newegg
8 November 2012
  • Summary: I bought this board for a low power Win 8 build. After the official release of Win 8, Asus support informed me that there will be no Win 8 drivers available. My first and only Asus purchase. Never again, I will stick with MSI.
  • Pros: Works for Win7.
  • Cons: No Support for Win 8.

Great little board, but one fatal problem

Chris I., Newegg
27 August 2012
  • Summary: I'm hoping ASUS doesn't point the finger at Windows 8, because I know it isn't Windows 8 since worked before reformatting. ASUS needs to support Windows 8 eventually!
  • Pros: Hardware This is a great combo board at an excellent price. The board stays cool enough during idle operation in spite of not having a fan installed. I put a case fan in anyway, and it keeps it really cool. Any ambient breeze will cool this bad boy down. Software Installation went very smoothly, ...
  • Cons: When updating the BIOS recently it rendered Windows 8 unbootable. I had to reformat and reinstall, which was a huge pain in the booty (and yes, I switched the BIOS setting from IDE back to AHCI before rebooting!). Another thing the BIOS update did was seemingly break USB 3.0 support. Prior to the...

Perfect for running a media center

Glenn, Amazon
16 August 2012
  • Summary: This motherboard is perfect for running my small media center. It is silent and the HDMI out handles both video and audio. I am currently running Unbuntu on this motherboard and while it does not have a super high powered processor, the system running efficiently with minimal slow downs.

Great HTPC

Steven C., Newegg
12 July 2012
  • Summary: Antec ISK 300-65 G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 ( ASUS E45M1-I Deluxe AMD E-450 APU AMD Hudson M1 60GB Crucial M4
  • Pros: Silent HTPC. Attached this via HDMI to a 46 inch Samsung 1080p tv. Plays video flawlessly, without skipping. The GPU doesn't break 40% use decoding full 1080p . Paired with a Crucial SSD for snippy and silent HTPC.
  • Cons: Since there is no fan on the CPU, temps can rise based on room temp. In the winter I have this OC'd to 1850mhz without issues. However in the summer my apartment gets warm, @1850mhz temps can push the 60 degree mark. I turned it back to stock clocks and temps run a nice 40 degrees under full load...

User Review

Dustin M., Newegg
16 June 2012
  • Summary: Installed Windows 7 64 UEFI boot on GPT SSD from USB DVD drive. Routinely failed to restart upon any software installation. Had to enter UEFI, select Windows Boot Manager manually, then it would start up. This problem has disappeared since Windows update June 12, 2012.
  • Pros: Handles most applications well. Bootable driver CD includes useful utilities like Windows XP (F6) AHCI driver floppy creator. Operates on battery power from m4-atx power supply. Analog VGA works through cheap DVI-I adapter.
  • Cons: Heat sink too hot to touch. When fanless, locks up if room ambient over 95degF. Unstable uefi reboots. For a low power board suitable for embedded applications, it requires a large number of power supply connections. EATX 24pin plus 4. Cannot use picoPSU 20pin.

ASUS E45M1-I Deluxe

Mace Moneta, Amazon
26 May 2012
  • Summary: I purchased this for use in a file server. I'm using Fedora 17 (Linux), and installation was problem-free, including the GUI. Performance is good, and the system is stable. I've seen some comments about this running hot, but I'm running at 46.0C; perhaps those with a problem have inadequate cooling...

Great All In One Mini ITX Board

Yung C., Newegg
19 May 2012
  • Pros: All in one solution, HD Graphics that can support 1920x1080 flash video, Built in HDMI, Bluetooth, Wireless, USB 3.0. Takes 8GB of G.Skill DDR3 1333 without any issues.
  • Cons: CPU does feel a bit sluggish as suggested by other reviewers. This is particularly noticeable during Windows update process. During normal operations (i.e., web browsing, music playback) the CPU is doing a respectable job.
