You are paying for the "ROG" branding and nothing more! Beware!

Lord NMB, Amazon
26 August 2014
  • Summary: It's overpriced; get a Sabertooth board instead. Other than a couple of overclocking tweaks, there is nothing this board can do that a 990 Sabertooth board can't handle.

Good looks, okay performance

S Myrick, Amazon
25 April 2014
  • Summary: The first unit received had faulty onboard audio and I had to RMA it. Amazon was great and overnighted a new unit to me. A+ for customer service! The overclocking performance on this board is only so-so. I am running a 8150 on it and stability has been an issue.

Okay board but nothing like you would expect

Henry C., Newegg
25 November 2013
  • Summary: It not a bad board, just was not worth the price
  • Pros: nice interface, looks nice, other than some issues in bios can overclock easily with this board
  • Cons: bios is very clunky, sata connectors are not organized well, for crossfire/sli and cable management in mind. USB 3.0 doesn't always work and can cause some boot issues if you leave a usb device plugged in.

Huge excitement...big let down

TheyCallMeGeek, Amazon
19 November 2012
  • Summary: I bought this board as I was told by a friend that it was the best that was out there right now. I have had the worst time and all it boils down to is that I need to RMA the board I guess.

ROG Thunderbolt.?

Trong H., Newegg
21 October 2012
  • Pros: I just recently bought this MB, and I dont know that it support to go with the ROG THUNDERBOLT or not, but it they do, then I think it missing or I still not receive it yet.. BTW the rest of it was great, the overclock was power full, and yet with 36GB RIPJAW Ram, 1TB HDD, 2GTX660Ti, H80 cooler s...
  • Cons: Hope that ROG Thunderbolt is on their way....:(

Was great until I plugged in USB drive.

Joshua S., Newegg
6 July 2012
  • Summary: ASUS needs to employ computer smart people and not cutsheet phone operators. Also there needs to be an option on Newegg to be able to select the revision of motherboard you want to purchase not have random change. Found that the USB issue may be from the ASMedia controller and that Rev.
  • Pros: The board is amazing. The BIOS flashing abilities, the space and the speed at which this board flies is amazing. I would recommend this board with one exception....
  • Cons: The USB does not work at all!! I purchased the board online prior to coming home from a deployment in Afghanistan since I knew from past experiences that ASUS makes a solid product. Boy was I wrong on this one. Unfortunately now I am outside of my return or replace time frame and I am stuck with ...

  • Pros: This board works very well, when it's working. I haven't done any overclocking yet, but it's supporting almost all of my components quite well.
  • Cons: Unfortunately, the board that I have isn't capable of supporting my RAM. I originally bought G.SKILL Ripjaws 2x8GB 1600 RAM. With one 8GB module in, it worked perfectly. As soon as I put in the second module, I got file copy errors. I RMA'd the RAM, thinking that was the issue. However, with my n...

Such a hassle

kevin c., Newegg
19 June 2012
  • Summary: I brought this combo with the FX-820, and wouldn't you know, the board wouldn't work with it. How you can sell a combo with a chip that's not ready for it is beyond me, but after tinkering with it a while, the board ended up being completely useless, even with a earlier chip I purchased just to get...
  • Pros: A lot of features. Great design. Unique Bios. Easy overclocking features. Works fine once you're able to get it to work!
  • Cons: Using the newer FX chips can be a pain in the you know what!

Too much is too much

Terry H., Newegg
3 June 2012
  • Summary: This board allows the user to do a LOT with their settings. There are a very large number of options available. Unfortunately, the settings were not consistent in my experience. If you're really looking to be able to ROG connect to your board, then this isn't a bad selection, just be wary of the...
  • Pros: This board is compatible with a wide range of hardware, making it an easy selection for purchasing an up-gradable machine or for those with older processors they may have money to upgrade later
  • Cons: I have recieved two of these boards. The first board ruined my processor (AMD FX 8150) resulting in me returning hardware to NewEgg. Both boards had different default settings (Out of the box). Both boards 'default' settings put my computer in an overclocked state. On one board, I had to enable t...
