Good board But forget about RAID
Dennis K., Newegg
15 February 2016
Pros: Fast, fast and fast.
Cons: Tried numerous times to find the correct drivers for RAID install on 7X64 but no dice. The AMD support webpage is garbage they even show a Win7-64 driver as 64X but it is actually 32X. ASUS is no better. They are both useless. Between AMD and ASUS they have successfully destroyed my loyalty to th...
Summary: After years of using Asus, Ive finally found a board that didn't work. I cant say asus is to blame, as every other board I've had in the last 10+ years has been perfect, but MAN did this one make me angry
Pros: Easy to set up, works fine for everything I wanted(See cons for issues) Extra sata locations made for easy install into a case that was NOT meant for short cables, and the water cooler worked well with the system, and the spacing around the CPU was good for larger non-water cooled heatsinks.
Cons: After a few months of use, I'm getting the Dreaded FF code, After a long troubleshooting session, it HAS to be the board, as everything else is working fine in other places, It boots, and will go to bios, but after 20 or so seconds, the board states FF and shuts down, Trying to restart after that...
Summary: My suggestion spend a little more and go with a higher quality MB remember you get what you pay for.
Pros: The MB has alot of great bells and whistles and seems to be a good buy for the buck.
Cons: I am on my 2nd MB the first one was DOA the 2nd one seemed to work until I placed a known working video card in and it didn't want to work while trouble shooting the PCI slot fell off when I tried to put in the video card. Yes you read that correctly fell off WOW what to do now.
Summary: Normally I would not remove eggs for a manufacturer issue over a good product, but the service the repair warehouse puts out is unacceptable at this point you should never have to go through more then one RMA for a component, but 3 of them is inexcusable.
Pros: *board has great control and power management software *gets the job done and will mange just about anything you can throw at it *ROG features help to manage and keep MB up to date
Cons: *well its not really the board that lost the eggs its ASUS, they make great products however at around 2 years of ownership I had a power failure on the board that caused several of the fan pins to die, to including the CPU fan, alas when that fan pins et fails well you cant boot at all. I have g...
Summary: Thought upgrading to the more modern Crosshair V will be easy...but it is not.
Pros: To update later If I can get it fixed.
Cons: Right now, I am upgrading my motherboard from the old Crosshair V to this Newer one and two things has happened already. 1) When it does, I get a NTLDR missing error which deals with windows but I am using the same drives as I did before with the older motherboard and it has windows 7 64 bit on i...
Cons: Ever since I placed this board in my system I am getting system freezes. I can be working 5 minutes or up to 8 hours and then it freezes up and I have to hard boot. I have been on the phone and emails numerous times with ASUS and everything they told me to try only made it worse. I sent it back f...
Pros: ROG connect, user friendly BIOS, Asus update and AI Suite
Cons: Frequent problems with Asus products. My first Asus MOBO was a Sabretooth 990fx which bricked unexpectedly after about 6 months of use. Upgraded to a crosshair and had only minor trouble with updating the BIOS. I then bought this, my second crosshair. After 1 day of use the network adapter has died.
Pros: Easy to set up, starts up fast and works great until it quits. I have had two of these Crosshair formula boards and both have failed.
Cons: The first Crossfire board failed after 2 years and the 2nd and last after 3 months. The LAN port fails and nothing I can do will get in on line again. That was on two LAN failures on two Crossfire boards. I did not complain on the first, but this is too much to bear. I am done with the Crossfire ...
