Nathan M., Newegg
2 November 2005
  • Summary: This would have gotten a 5 had it not been for the dead on-board LAN. Every thing about this board rockz and rockz it hard.....except the one i got had a faulty RJ-45 jack, it wouldn't recognize that a cable was plugged into it.

  • Summary: If you are building a computer with this MOBO and you are going with a SATA hard drive, expect to have issues. I finally gave up and bought a IDE hard drive.

  • Summary: If you read through the other posts like i did before i bought this you would have seen that all you have to do for the SATA drivers is go through a few folders on the CD that is included. Also i dl'd the new bios before i even installed any of my new components.

Not bad...

Charles J., Newegg
31 August 2005
  • Summary: Would have given 4 stars but the setup was a PITA. Now this isnt the fault of the board but the XP-120 heatsink would not fit without bending some components so I left it off. BIOS shipped was 1012 and the Asus website says my X2 4400 needs 1014.

  • Summary: I paired this board up with an x2 4200. First the good. The board seems to work just fine. I havent run into any problems after the one Im going to mention in the next paragraph. So far it seems to be rock steady running in dual channel mode with 2x1g OCZ platinum at the advertised 2.3.2.5 setting.

Great board, but don't update the Ethernet driver

James D., Newegg
21 August 2005
  • Summary: This board is great if you need socket 939 + AGP; it's a breeze to install, has a passively cooled northbridge (no annoying whiney fan), and has a decent feature set. However, don't be tempted to update the Marvell Yukon integrated ethernet driver on Windows Update - the 8.35 (7/20/2005) version is...

Higher-end Memory

Anonymous, Newegg
19 August 2005
  • Summary: Well, when I bought this board late last year it was highly rated, but many people had issues when using Low Latency Memory or Higher-end type memory. Essentially you have to set the speeds for the majority of the RAM, CAS, TRAS, TRC, and so on. Once that was all set up this board flew like a dream.
