Outstanding mother board and still going strong !!
5 July 2012
Summary: This motherboard is absolutely outstanding for a socket 939 coupled with a dual core Amd Processor.I bought it just to upgrade an old desktop computer and I'm very happy with it's speed and all the possible PCI extensions slots. I've even upgraded it's BIOS through the disquette and DOS Asus process and it works like a charm. In fact for that period when it was issued, it's among the best motherboards that ASUS has produced.Since then, I bought again two of these just for...
Summary: Excellent Motherboard. I'm using an ATI Radeon 6850 1GB Graphics card and 4GB Corsair with an AMD 64 X2 4600+ Processor. Everything works great including the motherboard which can be overclocked. Also has an GamePort for gaming towers. The heat sink piping is much better than the built in fan on the motherboard.
Summary: I love these boards. A bit dated now but top of the line when new. I am still running one myself with a Athlon 64 X2 and a BFG Geforce 275 GTX OTC and it rocks some high resolutions even on newer games like Darksiders. 1600 X 960 on a widescreen monitor! Had some parts to recycle into a system for my son and put one of these in it and have not looked back. Great Board.
Summary: Motherboard Asus A8N-SLI Premium (used) was bought at 10/6/10 and arrived at 23/06/2010 to my local post office. The motherboard was packed in hard polystyrene box. Inside it was in an antistatic bag. Back I/O plate was included. There was some fine dark dust on the CPU socket, so I had to vacuum-clean it. The motherboard has BIOS ver. 1303, which is a BETA version according to Asus website.
Summary: I guess I am just old fashioned (lol). I needed to build a new gaming box and just couldn't justify $2000+ so I am building one that was state of the are 3 years ago. Drop in a pair of OC'd 88's and 4 sticks of RAM, an AMD 4800+, a nice little pair of Raptors, augment with eBoostr, stuff it all in a Lian Li for class, fearlessly overclock the #$%^ out of it and there you go: playing with the big boys.
Asus A8N-SLI Premium: ASUS MOTHERBOARD SOLVES NOISE PROBLEM
3 June 2009
Summary: This was possibly the pinnacle of socket 939 technology since it combines two SATA controllers, SLi, huge connectivity, awesome reliability and complete silence into one board. There is no problem with this board overheating thanks to it's heatpipe and heatsink technology. Installation is very easy since any SATA devices are detected by the Windows installation as normal so no additional drivers are needed.
Pros: Silent running, connectivity, ease of install, features
Cons: Slow starter in my setup, expensive, installation difficulty
