  • Excerpt: "...back to 2200, So although Asus say it will run Barton 3400 it wont! It expired this weekend, just in screen saver mode while I went for a coffee, new PSU, no good, new 2023 Bios battery, no good, stripped down to just the x8 video card nope, swapped video card for an old but trusted Readon 16K and still nothing, of course shops don´t have any socket A boards so it would mean one of two things, either spend over 400€ on a new board CPU, RAM, and PCI ...
  • Pros: solid .  all standard stuff .  lasted well
  • Cons: dosn´t take the ASUS front panel, will not reun Barton Athlo3400 XP

Excelent value for money

  • Excerpt: "Hi there, I bought this board about a year ago to replace my fried Aopen Board. I got a good price as they are no longer top of the range boards. So what makes the A7N8X-E Deluxe a worthwhile buy, well if you are looking for a board which oozes the build quality and features of a Rolls Royce then this is the board for you, bearing in mind that you can only go as high as an Athon XP 3200+ or a Sempron 2800+ When I unpacked the board I noticed that ...
  • Pros: The Nforce 2 Ultra Chipset  +  soundstorm

  • Excerpt: "...this new (at the time) Asus A7N8X motherboard. I chose the Asus brand because my best friend built his own computer and he used this brand; he recommended it to me. I used the AMD Athlon XP 2500+ processor on this motherboard. Another reason for getting this board was the price; I was on a budget and wanted to get the best possible value for my money. After all it was my first build and I wanted to make it as fast and powerful as possible without ...

Super Deluxe

googoos, Ciao
31 October 2004
  • Excerpt: "The ASUS A7N8X Deluxe is really intended for the hardcore gamers out there. I build my gaming pc with an Athlon XP 3200+, a 1GB of kingmax DDR400 and Radeon 9700 pro. This motherboard has a built in 6-channel SoundStorm Dolby Digital soundcard, 4 usb ports, printer port, 5 PCI slots and 2 firewire ports. Unlike the other motherboards that have a built in video card, this one has none so you have to buy a separate video card and plug it on the AGP ...

  • Excerpt: "The A7N8X-Deluxe is a must-buy stuff if you want to build a new PC with a 5.1 sound system. It has lots of exciting functions. But many people have reported that the central speaker dose not work with the original driver. The solution is, if you have an extra microphone socket in front of the case: Go to Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel, under Volumes/Speaker settings/Advanced… you will find an option, “Connect central speaker and ...

Great ASUS motherboard with onboard graphics

paulfoel, Ciao
5 July 2004
  • Excerpt: "Great cheap nForce2 motherboard that comes complete with onboard LAN, onboard sound, and more importantly onboard Geforce 4 graphics. Also comes with TV Out. You can if you like add your own graphics card via the AGP 8x slot. Supports Athlon processors up to 3.0Mhz and can support DDR400 memory (but only if you add a separate graphics card into the AGP slot, otherwise you'll need to use DDR333). The great thing about this card is that everything ...

  • Excerpt: "A year ago, the Asus A7N8X series consisted of some of the best selling motherboards on the market, and it's not hard to see why. At the time, the nVidia nForce 2 chipset was taking the PC market by storm and was making it easier than ever before to build your own computer. nForce 2 based motherboards included everything - well, almost everything. Sound, networking and even graphics could all be provided on one board without the need for extra PCI ...
