PCIE2 Doesn't work

Simon K., Newegg
  • Summary: Nice motherboard so long as you don't want high end graphics.
  • Pros: Slick BIOS interface
  • Cons: PCIE2 won't recognize graphics card. Tried the other card from a working system, no dice. Tried clearing CMOS (see that being suggested), no dice. Tried slowing the interface to Gen1 (also seen here), no dice.

It's as if the PCIe Doen't Exist

James P., Newegg
  • Summary: I purchased two Z87 Pro3's and neither would detect my video cards, so a defective mainboard is ruled out. I tried 3 different brands and styles of video cards, one even had the newer UEFI "hybrid BIOS" switch. No amount trying every possible configuration, even with EVGA tech support (for two of the three cards I tested), would even get Z87's "Status Browser" thing to show the seated video cards were even in the PCIe.
  • Pros: The OC profiles are nice.
  • Cons: The implementation of CSM is confusing; as is how it deals with video cards over the PCIe and the whole UEFI / legacy BIOS, use-cases.

Dead channel B, worst support ever

Alfred S., Newegg
5 March 2014
  • Summary: Guess what, 1 day later, nothing back from them, other than the confirmation that they got my email.
  • Pros: Nice for the price, if it works. Newegg is always the best part of buying PC hardware. They seem to actually care, and work with you.
  • Cons: DDR channel B dead out of the box. I am not the only one to have this issue. Where is the support phone number? You have the sales number. You can email support.

Nice Motherboard

Daniel P., Newegg
27 February 2014
  • Pros: The board is is labelled very well which makes it very easy to locate everything. The part of this build I was dreading the most was properly installing the LED lights, Power Switch and such. The Motherboard and my Cooler Master HAF 912 Blue Edition were so well labelled that I got the wires right on the first try! I play World of Warcraft has really impressed me!
  • Cons: The board honestly scared me when installing the CPU fan and heat sink. It felt a bit flimsy to me. I would recommend installing the CPU and fan before mounting it in the case. This was a bit disappointing but not worth losing an egg over.

Awesome Product

ted slockbower, Amazon
26 February 2014
  • Summary: Very easy to install. Lots of ports for fan power, SATA3 and USB devices. Very stable. I was able to plug in my SSD hard drive from a Dell that died. Plug and play recognized most of the hardware on the new motherboard so it was easy to install the drivers on the DVD.

Tons of features

Daniel R., Newegg
26 January 2014
  • Pros: I bought this board because I plan to buy an unlocked i7 in a year or two when the prices come down. I will be able to overclock an unlocked cpu and extend the life of my computer, effectively future proofing my build without spending a ton on a current high end chip. I really like the UEFI bios which can even download your drivers for you and also can update the firmware from within the bios! There are a lot of USB 3 ports font panel connectors for both USB 2 and USB...
  • Cons: None!

  • Summary: This is a great motherboard for the money. My 4770k runs great on it and I've had no issues with stability etc. The onboard audio is very good for such a setup.

Great Motherboard

Blake R., Newegg
1 January 2014
  • Pros: This is my second ASRock. After my last board (ASRock 970 Extreme 4), I was so impressed, I didn't even shop other brands. I just found the ASRock board I needed to match my new Haswell chip.
  • Cons: None.
