Summary: Lots of sata ports on this mobo. I love it! I have had no issues so far, and I have had it for about a month now and nothing but greatness from this board. Overclocking is very simple to do. The "EZ OC" is literally a drop down menu and you get to choose how far you would like to OC.
Summary: the quality and workmen ship of this motherboard is out standing I had no issues with installing it and setting it up everything works great. The only CONS I have with this motherboard is it only has one PCI 2.0 x 1 on it and the sound card uses it and it don't have WIFI on it.
Summary: I liked this board for one reason. The "onboard" audio chip is effectively off board. You can freely insert your own audio solution without having an onboard chip sitting there like all motherboards have been for years My choice was to replace the included Game Blaster with a Creative ZXr ASRock x79...
Pros: Large CPU support list including newest XEON v2 for upgrades later on.
Cons: GPU retainer mechanism is 2nd rate. You have to slide them open prior to inserting or removing them or you will snap them off and possibly damage your expensive GPU's also. Other brands use a spring loaded mechanism that only requires you to open them during removal. I also don't care for the mem...
Pros: All aspects of my board seem to work just fine (i.e. no broken components). There is a large amount of features available. Stable when OCing the CPU (My i7 3820 is currently running at 4.8Ghz)
Cons: Not a huge fan of UEIF BIOS on this board. With each change that is made a restart of the PC must be made before the board recognizes it, (i.e. bootable drives). If a BIOS setting is made that the board doesnt agree with it just wont turn on period. I then have to use the CMOS dump button on the ...
Cons: Although it boasts "Windows 8 Ready" Drivers were not released until late December 2012 and still are not functioning correctly for the SB Recon 3Di. Recording is garbled and I am forced to switch back to windows 7.
Summary: The reviews seem to be quite a mixed bag from the customers. I purchased a year's extra warranty, just to be sure. I do not want to be embarrassed by a potential failure and the resulting lost work productivity that would result.
Pros: 1) Lots of USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports present and can support additional USB 2.0 from the tower front panel. 2) Plenty of SATA ports (mostly III). 3) Excellent overclocking potential if bought for personal use.
Cons: 1) User guide somewhat ambiguous about best way to use the SATA ports with the various accessories. This slowed down the process of bringing up the system before loading the O.S.
Pros: Over all the features on this board are outstanding. No issues at all when all my hardware was installed. Then again I indeed have not owned it for very long yet. I have filled all ram slots with corsair veng 4GBs each. Very stylish.
Cons: Only con I can think of. Is when i plug in a hard drive to the lower sata ports, My PCI-E ssd will not boot to windows. Its ok tho since they work in all other ports. The bottom ports do work but have issues when booting to a PCI device.
Summary: I am now worried that I should have gotten a board with onboard audio. This was one of the factors when I chose this motherboard, thinking I was getting a bonus. I am now going to have to buy a new audio card and hope that it fits in between 2 Radeon video cards.
Pros: So far so good. Motherboard itself seems great. No stability issues. Looks great with classic colors, unlike some other boards with every color under the rainbow.
Cons: Gameblaster audio card is TERRIBLE. It is 5.1 NOT 7.1 like advertised, and not only that, it sounds horrible. I have tried everything and can not get it sounding even decent. The THX software is not good either and there are few options within it. The pci express slots are not well placed either....
Summary: Board does what is purports to do, except support 3.0 PCIe cards in that mode. Given it is not a big issue for me, I did not take off more points, but objectively, bad form ASRock as you paraded the 3.0 PCIe on the Z68 like you were ahead of the game, which has proven not to be the case when the...
Pros: Has great power distribution and all the connections one might need in less than a server class board.
Cons: BIOS is a bit confusing, and the strap does not work on all cpus. PCIe 3.0 will not recognize my 7970s as 3.0 gen, and when I manually attempt to set them to GEN 3, my computer cycles on and off as it cannot boot. Board was advertised as designed for overclocking, and it does not fail in that res...
Summary: I'm very happy with this board and with the support from the ASRock website. I gave it four stars, however, because it the HyperDuo software doesn't work properly in Windows 8, so my SSD+HD combination isn't performing as well as it would under Windows 7.
