Pros: excellent board ,honestly way better than I expected.if youre having problems making that decision go look at the computation numbers this one scores higher than mobos almost twice the price.....solid build
Pros: Pros. Let's see. It has REAL SLI SUPPORT. It has the m.2 socket. It has features that compare with the crosshairs vmformula for 100 dollars less. The board has a great power phase. Easily overclocked my 8120 to 4.2 with evo212+ cooler. It has the SLI power connector. No old useless LEGACY PCI SLOTS. It is a great future proof motherboard for almost half the price of the competitors who offer less features. This board is a no brainier for any serious gamer.
Cons: Only possible con I could give this board is that the last PCI express slot is not x16. Thankfully the first two are so I have 760 slid.
Summary: North-bridge chip set heat-sink is adequate at best. No way to get a temp readout in the bios or any software so I hooked up an external sensor to it and sure enough its was idling at 66c. While that is still within spec, it was unacceptable to me seeing as I will be overclocking and that could be an issue. So I thought it would be wise to re-gel the chip but no, the way it is designed, there is a large gap between the heat-sink and the chip itself.
Pros: Fully loaded. Great price. Solid performance so far. Upgradeable.
Cons: As mentioned in other reviews, their is the issue of the downward facing 4 pin molex located at the bottom of the motherboard. This will not be an issue for all but it was for me(and many others I can assume). Thing is, with a bottom mounting power supply, you have almost no room to utilize this socket unless you happen to have low profile 90 degree power connectors on your PSU. In my case, I did not. I ended up ordering some "Standard 4 Pin Low Profile Easy Install w...
Pros: Bios has more choices than carter has pills to tweek system. Great looking board.Played well with my drives, ram and video card. 4 slots at 1866 for 16GB. Good WEI score and top passmark score. No need to upgrade bios.
Cons: Two cons I have but will not take off an egg. With a mid tower case an bottom power supply gave me a 1/16 inch to connect a extra power molex tp video card slots. My GT 640 did not need it. Now a top mount PSU or Full tower case would not be a problem. Also it turns out I had 2 reg PCI cards that I could not mount ( TV tuner and WIFI card ) but my fault for not checking, Fix was USB WIFI and order PCIe x1 tuner.
Pros: So far i love this board. Love the color combo. I was going for a red theme build so this fit perfectly. Bios seems really easy. I just finished my build so i haven't got to overclocking anything yet. With my build i get 7.7 score on microsoft
Summary: In any case I think that this is one thing that needs to be relocated in a future revision. So if the ASRock devs see this review, seriously look at relocating this Molex Connector. For those that are thinking of buying this mobo & using that feature, just be aware that you made need a Right Angle Molex Connector depending on your case.
Pros: Updating from my earlier review.
Cons: I major Con I see is the placement of the SLI/XFire Molex. It is right at the bottom of the board & in a place where it will be obstructed in many cases do to the placement of the PSU's that are bottom mounted. Not all cases will have this issue but its something to watch out for. Especially if they are a Mid Tower cases. I have an NZXT Phantom case & it does not allow for a regular Molex to be plugged in when the mobo is tightened down. Even when the power supply is ...
