Brian T. Clem, Amazon
31 March 2013
  • Summary: I read all the horror stories on the web ... But let me tell you about my experience... 1. I bought 2 part thermal paste to really get the heatsinks to stick. only $5 and soooo worth it!! 2. I had extra heat sinks from old vga installs...

Good

Morgan S., Newegg
8 February 2013
  • Summary: Overall seems like a great board, just gotta get some cooling going if you're going to OC high. Since its a delicate piece of equiptment, you gotta do your homework and realize that there are differences beyond the just the form factor.
  • Pros: High overclock ceiling. Mini-itx Fm2 support. worked first time, all drivers worked. OC works etc etc.
  • Cons: Gets hot, part of that is due to mini-itx cases being constrained. I can see how people would burn their boards. If you're careless and don't heat sink the VRMs, etc then yeah you can burn it up. Keep it in spec and keep it cool, and it'll work. I've had for about three months now, and no problem...

So far No Fire....

Dhaval S., Newegg
24 January 2013
  • Summary: As other reviews mention, this motherboard is prone to catch fire, My board gets warm and toasty but yet to see the fireworks. I also observed that the CPU temperature goes up quickly when idle in BIOS mode.
  • Pros: 1. Only mini ITX available 2. Works as described 3. Feature rich
  • Cons: IO Shield was not so great to work with - not a deal breaker. Other than that, none so far.

Great board and easy setup

Anonymous, Newegg
12 January 2013
  • Summary: Caution - If you use Scythe SCKZT-1000 80mm Kozuti CPU Cooler, you will only be able to use 1 RAM slot. I learned this the hard way. I read all the dimensions, bought low profile ram chips, but apparently I still calculated wrong.
  • Pros: This really is a great mini ITX motherboard, no issues at all. This is my first ASRock and I was very impressed. I have it paired with A10-5700 in an HTPC. As soon as I powered it on I did a bios update from USB stick - went smoothly. Running Win8 Pro. Great fan controls for 3 and 4 pin. BIOS is ...
  • Cons: It would have been nice if RAM slots were positioned a little further from CPU for my low profile CPU cooler.

Great Little Board

Alan S., Newegg
7 December 2012
  • Summary: Like I said before, I have been an intel guy for a few years now and I am greatly impressed with this AMD system. I am using this board, A6-5400K, Kingston Hyper X 120GB SSD, 4GB RAM, small 200 watt proprietary PSU, and all crammed into an old 2" Hiper media case.
  • Pros: Great little board for a low power set up. I bought this with an A6-5400k for an XBMC build. BIOS has great features and allows under clocking and under volting of CPU, GPU, and RAM. Great fan control as well. The Asrock overclocking/fan control application works very well also. I've been running...
  • Cons: Not much. I was going for low power so tried to push it as low as possible. Lowest available multiplier in bios is 14x and it will not boot no matter what the settings are, same with 15x. I got everything working right at 16x which has my CPU running at 1600mhz. Also, lowest working voltage setti...

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones

Samuel S., Newegg
27 November 2012
  • Summary: FM2 procs (especially the 100w variety) are heat producers. Do yourself a favor and get a good case with good airflow, and get a decent aftermarket cooling kit.
  • Pros: Low cost, great feature set. One of a select few FM2 boards in ITX at this time. I upgraded to the 1.80 BIOS a couple of weeks after purchase.
  • Cons: Apparently these boards are hit or miss in terms of stability. No issues yet, 3 weeks in with an A10-5800K at stock clocks, but do your homework and wait a bit if these come back in stock.

Almost perfect FM2 ITX

Stefanos M., Newegg
7 November 2012
  • Summary: The first reviewer said he had a bad capacitor on two boards. I'm going to say this was a bad batch. I have used these boards for over 10 hours and report no issues.
  • Pros: As advertised. Most ITX boards don't include the extra audio plugs or optical in. Very nice!
  • Cons: No built-in wireless. Would be nice if they embedded wireless into this board for a bit more money.
