Cooling Issues

CreoleLakerFan, Amazon
11 July 2013
  • Summary: This board has design issues which lead to MOSFET/VRM overheating. Fortunately I read reviews after I purchased it, but before installing this board. 15% restocking fee isn't great, but it's a lot better than the entire system melting down.

Not optimistic

John W., Newegg
22 January 2013
  • Summary: I should have waited for another ITX board to be produced that is stable.
  • Pros: Pipe dreams with features wanted
  • Cons: contacted ASRock 3 times and got the standard canned response about the vrm heatsink issue. I am awaiting a heatsink that I will cut down to fit the vrm's and use thermal epoxy to mount them. I bet this will void warranty if and when the motherboard fails. I will count as lose and post at many fo...

It caught on fire.

Matthew L., Newegg
19 December 2012
  • Summary: Not sure if I can RMA since after a week of it working issue free I figured it was safe to get rid of the box. My mistake.
  • Pros: Mini-ITX, FM2. Was really happy with it until the cons hit.
  • Cons: VRM caught on fire after about a week. Was not even overclocking. No heatsinks on the VRM apparently a big deal.

beware

Bob B., Newegg
2 December 2012
  • Summary: Hopefully the third board will work as expected.
  • Pros: Small but had nice features, FM2 socket, uefi bios
  • Cons: 1st board would not power on, rma replacement worked fine for a few days, long enough for me to get it all set up the way I wanted, then it powered off during a stress test. Then it wouldn't turn back on, so I removed it from the case, unplugged everything except for one stick of ram, cpu, and th...

SATA Issues, bad support

Dinko T., Newegg
13 November 2012
  • Summary: My ram booted up just fine at 1866 and with Windows 8 and an SSD i was able to boot in about 10 seconds which is blazing fast.
  • Pros: Simple to install and set up. All but SATA ports seemed to work well and nice UEFI interface (when i could reach it)
  • Cons: I set it up and installed everything on my SSD at SATA port 1. As soon as I started adding my storage drives my experience went sour. The motherboard would freeze at the selection screen before the UEFI with some drives and not even let me get to the point where icould really troubleshoot. Someti...

Faulty design?

Gregory R., Newegg
6 November 2012
  • Summary: System Details: A10-5800K Coarsair A50 Samsung DDR 3 1600 Low Profile XFX 550 PS Intel 160GB SSD Bought locally because of immediate availability but I normally shop at NewEgg.
  • Pros: Easy to configure BIOS Easy to update to new BIOS. Decent layout. 25Watt Idle (Via KillaWatt)
  • Cons: Just went through two of these boards and both blew the same capacitor within 10 hours of light use. I think there is a major flaw with this board somewhere in the power delivery or I could just have gotten a bad batch. This board advertises support for 2600 Mhz DDR3 but the highest you can selec...
