Works great as a backup fileserver

Scott N., Newegg
21 October 2012
  • Summary: Using this in a FreeNAS 8.0 backup fileserver. Combined with an A4 CPU and an NZXT Source 210 S210-001 case. The 8 SATA III ports are very useful for use as a fileserver. FreeNAS 8.0 recognizes the full 3TB drive I installed.
  • Pros: This is a great motherboard working perfectly fine with no problems. The 8 x SATA 6Gb/s ports are more than standard, now also available with the FM2 AMD85+ chipset. Of course a PCI card can always be used for more SATA ports. I was able to sucessfully upgrade (flash) the BIOS to v2.00 with no pr...
  • Cons: None with this motherboard. Memtest86+ does not work perfectly on motherboards having a UEFI BIOS. They are waiting for the UEFI BIOS to become mainstream before they port their code so they do not have to maintain two sets of code.

Great Motherboard!

Eduardo B., Newegg
6 July 2012
  • Summary: For a little below $200 I got a nice cheap overclockable system that tops out at 3.63 GHz on 1.425 V. It was a good deal, maybe I will try PCI to PCI-E adapters if I want more vga adapters.
  • Pros: Plenty of USB3, adequate amount of PCI-E slots (bitcoin mining), boot error indicator, UEFI, overclockability, double or triple SLI/X-Fire, plenty of fan connectors, and the AsRock overclock tool allows real-time overclocking of PCI-E/CPU mult/volts/etc inside Windows immediately without needing ...
  • Cons: Only x16 PCI-E split into x8/x8 when two slots occupied, third PCIE slot (furthest away from APU) runs at x4 (maybe lower if too many input devices connected) if all PCI-E slots occupied. Can possibly do triple x-fire/SLI with PCI-E overclocking for more bandwidth I can reach 120 MHz, wish there ...

great board

Adrian D., Newegg
21 May 2012
  • Summary: wish I could give it 4.5 stars...taking away .5 star because of the awkward sata connections....otherwise great feature set...hdmi video/audio or output via optical working great for me, plus dvi/vga if you need it..
  • Pros: easy configuration and setup and good performance out of the box. lots of sata ports
  • Cons: not a fan of the sata connections ports being stacked on the edge of the motherboard but I can understand the need for the space savings created by this.
