Don't Use Xfast LAN

Jason H., Newegg
21 September 2013
  • Summary: I had to deduct two eggs due to the XFast issue and auto port. 5 eggs to Newegg for super fast shipping & excellent packaging with plenty of foam peanuts. Only took 3 business-days to receive this item.
  • Pros: Well designed, plenty of ports. Easy to use BIOS. Room for my Hyper 212 without touching RAM (had this problem with previous MB). Easy overclocking. Have my FX 8320 clocked at 4.3 Ghz @ 1.375 volts temps stable at 32-40C.
  • Cons: XFast LAN which is part of the utility driver set sends out ICMP & UDP packets several times a minute (even when not running). Detected this with Peerblock. After some research I found the IP address 194.95.249.23 linked back to cfos software, which is the creator of XFast LAN. Uninstalled XFast ...

Quirky

Clifford D., Newegg
4 June 2013
  • Summary: Unwilling to deal with the RMA process after 60 days - will probably buy another board and let this one gather dust.
  • Pros: Nice layout, pretty motherboard, works with FX-8350 and SLI. Nicest packaging I've ever seen on a motherboard. Prompt shipping.
  • Cons: After two months of use, board no longer POSTs normally. With no case connectors, after rear CMOS button is pressed, motherboard will post. No debug codes displayed other than the normal POST process. System operates, and will reboot in a normal manner. If system is shut down (powered off), it wi...

  • Summary: I really wish this stick limit wasn't an issue. Otherwise.. very good value.
  • Pros: All the pros are the specs listed. It overclock memory fine for me at 2100 using Gskill PC 17000. HOWEVER... see cons Fantastic BIOS options for storage, etc. RAID (6 ports). SLI. etc. Is stable.
  • Cons: I started with 2 sticks totalling 8GB. Great! In love with the board, despite it's odd quirks (noise through audio out on power down)... Worked so well I order 2 more sticks of identical memory.. The machine did not like it. Loading both profiles, playing with voltages, etc. The timings were corr...

Would Not Post

Bill K., Newegg
22 April 2013
  • Summary: Hopefully a driver download from Etron will fix it.
  • Pros: Lots of features.
  • Cons: Latest board I set up for a friend this last week would not post when turned on. After resetting the CMOS it posts fine. USB 3.0 is an issue however as some USB 2.0 devices work and others do not. Having trouble on the front of the case with USB 3.0 and flash memory. I have the same motherboard a...

USB 3.0 FLAKY

Bill K., Newegg
22 April 2013
  • Summary: I am going to dloanload the latest driver from the Etron website and hopefully the problem is solved.
  • Pros: Overall this is a very good motherboard. Almost everything has worked flawlessly since purchasing it in feb 2012.
  • Cons: USB 3.0. The front USB 3.0 is extremely flaky. The only device that works without fail when attached is a Rosewill Wireless adapter. Flash drives sometimes will not eject or they will not be recognized.

Daniel R., Newegg
28 February 2013
  • Summary: Love the board just upset with the quality of the SATA 3 connectors. I placed them in my new build 7 day's ago and one of them went and took out my primary hard drive with it. Out of the 3 STATA 3 connector's 2 of them were broken and brittle. Annoyed and out a hard drive. Lovely
  • Pros: Faster then my last rig.
  • Cons: Shoddy SATA 3 Connectors that took out my primary hard drive.

  • Summary: The SATA 3 connectors that were provided with this awesome motherboard were garbage and broke with in the 7 day's I had them along with killing my primary hard drive. That caused a headache and a half trying to get Windows to install on the other drives. My whole day was shot.
  • Pros: Awesome upgrade from my last board, this is a beast. Love it
  • Cons: The SATA 3 connectors they packaged with mine bricked my primary drive then fell apart.

  • Summary: This is my first AsRock motherboard. I usually purchase Asus. This motherboard has a lot of fan connectors on it, but being who I am the software for controlling them either in the OS or Bios it worthless. The minium temperature is 46 degrees C.
  • Pros: Easy installation, used a corsair 90g ssd drive and windows 7. Iv'e had no problems installing the OS and hardware seems to be working. The best audio experience that I have found in a motherboard.
  • Cons: I consider myself to be an enthusiast when it comes to building a system. The software and bios are really not the best.
