Summary: I just bought this monitor about a week ago for my 14" laptop for better viewing of movies that I download from Netflix. 24" screen size and the price of [$] is why I bought this Viewsonic monitor. I have the Samsung 27" LCD TV I bought from [...] at $399.00. And compared to that Samsung TV, this Viewsonic monitor falls short in every category, hence my title of my review as, "Mediocrity at its finest". There are now other on-line retailers like [...
Pros: Adjustable, Average quality, Easy Setup, Lightweight
Summary: looks great with DVI ... but with HDMI on PC you can't get it to go 1920x1080 from a PC out I have a great video card Geforce GTX295, and bought special wires to wire my audio through the HDMI to the display. But pc resolution on this monitor is extremely lacking without DVI. The HDMI is for bluray player not for PC's... I want my money back.
Summary: For the price, this is a pretty good monitor. However, by spending just a bit more, you can get one that is much better. By better, I mean with a true 1920x1200 resolution. This monitor has the standard resolution of an HD tv set (1920x1080) which means the frame is shorter by about 100 pixels. That doesn't seem like a lot, but when it comes to reading text, it is an issue that is worth mentioning. PROS: 1) Price is very inexpensive for a 24" monitor.
Summary: This is not the best ViewSonic monitor. Text is fuzzy even after many adjustments. The monitor is set very very bright as other reviewers have said. I replaced a Dell 2005FPW which has a 20.1 viewable area but has an infinitely better stand. If I had paid more money for this monitor I would have returned it, as it was $309, I feel I mostly got what I paid for, but this monitor is not the fabulous bargain it seems.
