  • Pros: Great picture Nice slim 'n sexy look In fact I like the glossy finish OK for games and desktop applications
  • Cons: Backlight seeable at the bottomof the screen in dark areas of movies and games Some problems with the monitor that refuses some times to come back on after sleep Sometimes have to hover the mouse to see rest of screen. Resolution issues

"A relatively-good screen, just barely worth the money."

danstheman7, CNET
25 February 2009
  • Pros: Nice size, built-in speaker.
  • Cons: Brightness is just barley OK, no HDMI connection, speaker is just loud enough to hear when you need to, not good with VGA connections. You can see where the backlight is in dark scenes.

Beautiful display. Poor quality and service.

Tor Slettnes, Amazon
23 July 2007
  • Summary: I bought this monitor for my wife about 3 months ago. A few days ago, the DVI input started malfunctioning (I would be able to display in 640x480 resolution, but not higher; also the computer would not recongnize this as a plug&play monitor). I isolated the problem to the monitor by swapping the DVI cables and trying with both a PC desktop and a Apple Macbook Pro - in all cases, the monitor would only work at 640x480 resolution. I called for warranty support.

The good and the bad

Bill M "wjm7", Amazon
22 November 2006
  • Summary: First the good, the monitor is fantastic for the price, they keep getting better and cheaper and since this monitor is about half the price of the 24" LCD's out there it provides for a great price/performance ratio. Monitor has both DVI and VGA, I have the DVI connected to my PC and the VGA connected to my laptop (switch between the two with the #2 button) and both produce excellent color and text.

FOURTH EXCHANGE ON THIS - STILL NOT A CHARM!

Adamesq "Discerning Reviewer", Amazon
18 November 2006
  • Summary: I'm on my 4th VX2235WM. The first one - top left was darker than any other area on the screen. 2nd - stuck red pixel on the top area. 3rd - stuck green pixel in the middle of the screen. 4th - low volume, high pitch coming from screen - pinch the sides and it goes away for a little bit, just to come back later. This is extremely aggravating when you're trying to work with no music on. I've called Viewsonic to ask if there were any known problems.
