The ViewSonic VX2235wm is a 22” wide color TFT active matrix LCD that has an optimum resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels (WSXGA+). Like most of the recent monitors by ViewSonic, the ViewSonic VX2235wm features a slim bezel design with a glossy piano-black finish. It also features two integrated front-facing 2.5-watt speakers. The ViewSonic VX2235wm has an overall measurement of 20.6 x 19 x 9.6 inches (W x H x D) and overall weight of 13.2 pounds. Without the stand, it measures 20.6 x 15.3 x 2.3 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 12.8 pounds. Although the monitor cannot pivot or swivel, the panel can tilt up to 2 degrees forward and up to 5 degrees backward. The height of the monitor also cannot be adjusted.
The ViewSonic VX2235wm’s fully viewable 22-inch WSXGA display has a brightness range of 280 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 700:1. It is equipped with ViewSonic’s ClearMotiv technology allowing it to have a refresh response time of 5 ms. Viewing angles are at 170 degrees (horizontal) and 160 degrees (vertical). The panel with an anti-glare surface also has a dot pitch of 0.282 mm.
The ViewSonic VX2235wm is equipped with ViewSonic’s OptiSync multi-mode input technology. It has a DVI-D connector and a 15-pin VGA analog input as well as a 3.5 mm audio-in jack for the built-in speakers. It does not feature USB ports or High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliancy making it unusable for Blue-ray DVDs and HD-DVDs.
The ViewSonic VX2235WM LCD monitor 22” comes only with VGA and DVI connectivity and two speakers at a reasonable price for a widescreen LCD Monitor. The design is nice with black glossy colour. The panel can tilt forward but not swivel or pivot. The height is not adjustable. The buttons on the display are so small that fingernails must be used to press them. The ports in the back are easily accessible. Running the monitor at its native resolution of 1680x1050, the image is remarkably crisp, and the colours are very consistent across the entire screen area. At other resolutions, the image is still extremely good, and only suffers when compared to the native resolution. The controls are fairly intuitive, and provide a nice balance between simplicity and flexibility. There are some preset contrast/brightness modes, but “standard” is better. While running programs with a lot of movement for ex, games, a little of ghosting or shadowing appears. Playing movies is a joy. The monitor doesn't have a 1:1 or fixed aspect setting. This means that unless your graphics card supports these features, the monitor will stretch any image you send it to fill the entire widescreen. With its low price, one might expect that the Viewsonic VX2235wm performance is not so perfect, and he would be right. The VX2235wm earned a score of 69 on CNET Labs' Display Mate-based tests, which is low compared to other similarly sized LCD displays tested. However other LCDs with the same size compared with Viewsonic cost several hundred dollars more. Viewsonic backs the VX2235 with the industry standard three-year warranty on parts, labour, and the backlight, and there is also an option to buy an extended warranty. ViewSonic's support site has an e-mail support form, a Q&A knowledge portal, white papers, and driver downloads.See less
