reliable

Luke C., Newegg
4 October 2011
  • Summary: Lasts way longer than those unreliable gateway/acer lcds.
  • Pros: It's reliable - I owned one for 8+ years before the backlight finally went out That's pretty good for an LCD with a CCFL backlight. It's been very dependable. I would definitely buy a viewsonic monitor again.
  • Cons: None

An excellent monitor all around

Ron Losefsky, Amazon
2 June 2011
  • Summary: This monitor was the absolute perfect fit for my needs; an excellent viewing experience, affordable price point, and support for use with two different computers. The colors are great, text is crisp, the monitor both swivels and rotates, and just runs great with both a powermac G4 and a powerbook...

A bad experience......

Steven K., Newegg
9 March 2006
  • Summary: Buy something to test out, then buy a few more of them before buying the lot of them. We got a good one right off the bat and did not read reviews and had one of the worse buying experience of technology ever in my life.
  • Pros: The only honest pro for this item is that I have 4 still working out of the 15 that I have purchased that do not have dead pixels or have been sent back for repairs once or more.
  • Cons: I can honestly say that I will never purchase from Viewsonic again for monitors or others. I have been given the run-around more than once on this product. I have had to return it sometimes twice b/c the one they shipped me back went bad again. Seems to have a bad nack of just dying or having jus...

The best 17" LCD

Anonymous, Newegg
7 March 2006
  • Summary: this one is a keeper
  • Pros: - I've been using this monitor since 2003. It's been flawless, not a single dead pixel ever. - DVI input gives much better quality than analog, but it's good to have both. - display rotation - one of the main reasons i chose this monitor. - view angles great in both landscape and portrait mode - ...
  • Cons: - some problems with ATI software/portrait orientation. when I boot my machine, i have to turn the monitor back to landscape position, change refresh frequency to 75Hz, then run ATI video utility, change resolution to 1280x1024, and only then change rotation to 90 degree counterclockwise. a bit l...

Excellent Monitor and Newegg Service

Herrard C., Newegg
12 January 2006
  • Summary: There is a review for the 19 inch brother of this monitor (VP191s) in TrustedReview. Since that was very good, I deduced that the quality of this monitor should be the same and I was not mistaken.
  • Pros: No dead pixels. Colors are very accurate. Very bright. No bleeding. Text is sharp. I think its an excellent value for its price. Thanks to Newegg for its excellent service--I ordered this only two days ago. They processed my order in a day and got the monitor to me the next day (even though I onl...

Good LCD, but no 'professional' quality

Anonymous, Newegg
11 January 2006
  • Summary: Go 19", its a noticable difference. And as far as this one being a "professional" grade monitor, I would be POed if this is what I had to use as a professional (whatever.)
  • Pros: Fast LCD no ghosting, Swivel head, study wide feet. Multiple connections makes life simple, and a thin bezzel (sp?)
  • Cons: Does anybody else not have a problem with the contrast issue??? My whites (when compared to my 19" HP LCD side-by-side) are not as white, and when bumping up the contrast through the onboard-menu, the screen becomes redish on the bottom and blueish up top. I've spent hours fidling with every sett...

First LCD, NO DEAD PIXILS

Anonymous, Newegg
5 January 2006
  • Summary: I suffer from a lot of headaches, my old 19 inch crt was like a d**n strobelight.
  • Pros: -Small -does not take up much space -things just look more clear than on a crt. -does not hurt my eyes
  • Cons: none that I can think of, I have heard a lot about dead and stuck pixils and had my fingers crossed, but the screen has no flaws at all.

Excellent

Anonymous, Newegg
3 January 2006
  • Summary: In hindsight, I would have gotten a monitor with a thinner bezel as I find the bezel to be too thin because when you apply pressure to it in order to maneuver the screen; you also apply pressure to the screen below as well.
  • Pros: This is an outstanding monitor in all aspects despite a few minor flaws. Mine had no dead or damaged pixels, quite a pleasant experience. I highly recommend it.
  • Cons: The bezel makes a popping noise after an hour or so due to expansion and contraction from the heat generate by the monitor itself. It pops once or twice then goes away.

Great When It Worked

Ryan L., Newegg
12 December 2005
  • Summary: The monitor itself is excellent. However, I will never buy Viewsonic again due to their terrible service. They told me they were shipping it overnight air but refused to provide a tracking number saying they didn't keep those on file. Days and still no display back.
  • Pros: Great color depth, brightness & clarity, has both dvi & vga, strong base. Long warranty. Mine arrived with no dead pixels.
  • Cons: The screen backlighting lamp died after 4 months of use. I called Viewsonic and they were great about having me mail it back, but then I never heard from them again. It's been away for warranty service for 2+ months now.
