Excerpt: A good basic monitor. For some reason, ViewSonic seems to think that brightness is the holy grail, so you'll have to turn down the brightness—probably big-time. But it's doable. And there's a much-too-large ViewSonic logo whenever you turn it on, but I don't guess that's bad enough to deduct a star. What does earn a one-star deduction, however, is that the native resolution is so fine that the onscreen type becomes too small for my wife to read.
Summary: My samsung T240 had recently developed upward of 40 horizontal lines toward the right side, rendering it difficult to use (5 years old). I needed a monitor in a hurry and on a low budget to work with. This seemed to be among the best options. If I needed a spare monitor in the future, this would certainly be considered.
Pros: It works, it's bright, inexpensive, and easy to set up(not that most monitors aren't), crisp and clear picture.
Cons: No dvi cable (who uses dsub/VGA these days?), speakers don't sound good (didn't buy it for sound though). Stand isn't very adjustable.
Summary: I intended to use the DVI connection from the beginning and had a cable on hand for it. After reading some of the other reviews this seems to be a good idea and may avoid some issues.
Pros: Good brand name, good price point, nice features. Out of the box set up and connection was a breeze, I had a DVI cable on hand and did not use the supplied AGP cable. My Win7 system, N210 video card, and subsequent Nvidia software picked it up immediately, not a single issue. I have left the unit at it's original "Native" settings (1920x1080 and default color adjustments) and am most impressed with the quality of the image.
Excerpt: only one speaker worked the color was way off and it kept fading in and out.The color just would not adjust. I asked for an exchange and found out it was a 3rd party purchaase and could not get anything taken care of so I said ether replace it or pick it up and give me a refund and I will go some wre else and purchase one,so they picked it up,i went and purchased one,now i am waiting for my refund.
Summary: Beware of the warranty. The monitor I purchased began to flicker and black out after about a month of use. The product description with Amazon claims a three year limited warranty, but I learned to my dismay that the warranty from the reseller is only 30 days. No warranty information came with the product so I had to try to track down warranty information from the manufacturers website. READ THE SMALL PRINT. Don't make the same mistake I made.
Summary: I have purchased ViewSonic for years. This was the first time purchasing the "less" expensive model as I always went for the second highest models on VS. For the price they are tops. I can notice some blacks are as true and the greens when I compare side by side with a top tier model, but excellent without the side by side comparison. I would purchase these again. Oh, one side note, the speaker suck.. With the volume all the way up the sound is still low and tinny.
