Summary: I have been a long-time fan of ViewSonic. I have purchased many ViewSonic displays for myself and others in the company. I was delighted when they came out with the TD2740 touch display. I bought two of them for my desk and I was pleased. Shortly there after, I bought two more for other purposes. What I liked was the clear display and the touch using Windows 8 worked as expected. As someone who using the touch screen on my laptop, the touch function was very nice.
Summary: So far I am very disappointed after being quite happy. Quite happy when it worked, but that did not last but about four months. The screen was fine picture wise, but then the touchscreen function failed.Since I live in Southern California, I drove the unit to ViewSonic in Walnut. They took about two and a half weeks to get the monitor back to me, and not only was it not the same one, this monitor did not work at all. No touchscreen, no view on the screen at all..
Summary: I have had many ViewSonic monitors over the years. I've never had a problem with one. I am a senior citizen now with trifocals. I upgraded my aging Vista era video card to an HD capable one with a display port. I then started looking at monitor specs. I decided to find a 27" monitor in HD 1080p, 1920 x 1080. My card would support an even higher resolution but I don't think my eyes would like the smaller text nor am I a graphics professional.
Summary: We needed a large display for a Tradeshow Booth that would be traveling around the country. We looked at the 32in and the 27in as well as a Dell 27in. This is the one we chose and we are quite happy. Setup was simple and straight forward. Once connected to a windows 8 laptop, the monitor was auto detected and drivers for the webcam and touch were installed automagically. The touch worked right out of the box before the drivers were even done installing.
Summary: 8-26-13. I placed my order on 8-11-13 hoping to get this ViewSonic TD2740 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor. After extensive Internet research, this still appears to be the better of all the 27" Touch Screen units that are promised to be available in August 2013; at least on paper. The Viewsonic sales in CA. has several pallets in stock and ready for shipment at full list ($870) price plus shipping ($20). I suspect amazon.com will have them soon - I sure hope so.
