Excerpt: I like my new Monitor. The main problem I have with it is that it came to me needing a good recalibration. It works well but the alignment is about 1 inch off at the edges. Because of this, I have no luck doing any swiping at any of the sides or corners. It is not Staples fault. They received it that way. I don't know how to fix it yet, but when I learn enough from the manuals and users guide, I hope to be able to fix it right.
Cons: From reading the reviews I knew that this monitor was not great for Windows 8 but I run Win7 at my job and even if we go to Win 8 or 9 I will not need the side swipe. So I got 18 of them for my job and everything was great for the first month or two and then the nightmare started, One by one the monitor's HDMI input would start failing and the picture would turn pink, at this point all 18 have failed and were returned for repair at least once and some have been return...
Summary: ViewSonic TD2420 Black 23.6" Optical Multi-Touch Monitor 200 cd/m2 1000:1 Built-in Speakers The monitor is fine for viewing. The touch experience leaves much to be desired. I read one review that told how to recalibrate the touch. I found how to do it and saw no change in performance. It is dreadful from side touches. Touch seems to work fin in the center of the spring but at the edges swiping just is abysmal. The speakers have been problamatic as well.
Summary: I read the myriad negative reviews about this monitor repeatedly and waited for a long time before ordering, but I should not have been hesitant. I absolutely love this thing. I should say up front that I am running Windows 7, not 8, and I have not experienced any of the problems outlined by any of the other reviewers.
Summary: Touch screen worked fine for my purposes both in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 after some set-up. But came with one always on pixel. ViewSonic says they allow three. I've never had any pixel issues with other brands I've had (Samsung, Sony, etc.

Summary: The ViewSonic TD2420 Monitor...NOT RECOMMENDED! I bought one of these for my 91 year old father. My father was able to work my ASUS Laptop OK (Q55OL, 16", i7-4700, 1TB, Windows 8, FULL TOUCHSCREEN). So I bought this monitor to help him with his new Win 8 desktop computer. (Aside: I recommend the ASUS Q55OL Laptop with 5 Stars!) Big problem with this monitor; you CAN'T do edge gestures! That's terrible.
