Summary: This monitor is great! It is just the right size and weight, it is very easy to move. The screen and the picture is in excellent condition! It was pretty dusty when i received it, but overall a great deal. i bought this because i needed a monitor.
Summary: We have two. The first one is at least five or six years old and it's display is just as sharp as when we first purchaced it. My second monitor is just as good. The fact that it is only 15 inches is not a problem. This model of monitors is so good that it's size doesn't matter. I would not give either of them up for anything.
Summary: This display is great. Wanting a small LCD to use alongside my 18" model, I compared every monitor under 16" in several large stores (I even considered the cute and low-priced 14" Mag, but its image, color, and viewing angle are mediocre or worse). The Sony SDM-HS53 seemed clearly best (my target use is desktop applications including document and web design). This was strongly confirmed at home.
Summary: This was the first, and only, flatscreen monitor I've ever regularly used and it still works great and looks beautiful. The resolution is a little lover than most monitors today, that coupled with 4:3 screen resolution means 720p HD video barely fits on the screen. But the colors are great, and the monitor itself looks beautiful. I've used this monitor for years and never thought of getting a new one until today, now I'm considering just getting another one of these.
Summary: I bought this monitor about a month ago. This was to be used in a multiple station office setup. I wouldnt recommend this monitor to any one that wants a quality monitor. First, lets talk about refresh rates. At 30 m/s its slow for such an overpriced monitor. Also the setup controls make it difficult to tweak. Also image quality isnt spectacular, they tend to be blotchy and you miss much detail.
Summary: I recently picked up this LCD display because my old moniter was seeing the last of its days. i looked at a lot of displays, and i ended up with this one because it was affordable. i was pleasantly suprised at the quality of this product, and it looks really cool. if you are looking at a new moniter this is most likely the one for you!
Summary: ..... This flat panel is plug and play ; disconnected my old 17" Princeton CRT and connected the Sony in about 15 min. The panel is very light and certainly takes up a lot less desk space. I read the 7/24/03 review on cnet.com where the editor writes a goofy analysis ... "The Sony SDM-HS53 attempts to come off as slick and stylish, but it just ends up looking smudged.
Summary: Simply a great LCD. Very crisp on both graphics and text--even if you scroll slowly you can still read the text. I don't play many high-speed, 3-D games but the ones I do are handled perfectly. The only con so far is that the screen controls are not very intuitive. Takes a bit of work if you need to adjust the screen though I have not really needed to do so because the setup was super-easy plug and play. Also, the Sony 3 year warranty was a strong selling point for me.
