Summary: I purchased this monitor basically because it fit perfectly in a cabinet I already had in my bedroom. It fit a 24" wide opening perfectly. I connected the HDMI cable from my cable box and external speakers from the monitor. Clear picture. Kind of disappointed that I needed external speakers. For the price, Samsung should have included internal speakers since it already had the HDMI interface. I am sure this is not a problem if you are using the monitor connected to a PC.
Summary: I have owned the Samsung T260HD for three months and can say that the monitor is great for casual PC use, Gaming, and HDTV or BluRay DVD viewing. There are separate on screen menu settings for TV and DVI (PC) usage. So the settings that work for your PC are maintained if you make adjustments for watching TV. The monitor also has a fair amount of video connection options including VGA, DVI, Component, 2 HDMI and Coaxial. This is a very capable monitor for HDTV viewing.
Excerpt: The width of the monitor is also pretty amazing as things seem to really get to the point where I don’t see how they can be any thinner and still provide any color or contrast at all. It is really easy to set up and you can also tilt it any way you’d like so I appreciate that. I’d give it a 9 out of 10 if the contrast ratio were a bit higher. Outside of that it is really difficult to find faults with it.
Summary: This is a very nice monitor both in quality and the overall design. There are just two shortages: (1) the monitor is a little too bright that one need to turn the brightness control all the way down to minimum, and (2) the 5-button setting at the side of the monitor is a little hard to use. Fortunately, one doesn't need to change the setting all the time and the brightness can be adjusted using software. Overall, this is a large and good monitor for something about $450.
Summary: First off, this is a TN panel and probably isn't ideal or photo or video editing. That's fine, all that I use it for is playing games. It is perfect for that application. I purchased it on a great holiday sale for less than $400, and for that price, I think it is an excellent value. If you're looking for a fast gaming monitor, this one will do the job. Just don't expect to use professional editing tools like CS3 and get perfect results.
