Does not function properly - not as described

T. Kus "OM Alumni BSEE", Amazon
26 July 2011
  • Summary: Ordered through amazon, it's fullfilled by Tiger Direct. That means you DO NOT get the stellar amazon support when you have a problem as I did with this unit. In order to reach tiger direct, i had to track down the amazon phone number, and have them call tiger direct for me on their direct line...

Not worth the money

Douglas L., Newegg
6 June 2011
  • Summary: I have had Samsung products in the past and was happy with them. This is very disappointing. I bought this based on the rave review given by CNET and after seeing it in a store. Obviously they were able to give a proper unit to CNET for the review but cannot give one to their customers.
  • Pros: Wide screen - bright, non-glare screen. Good clarity. All types of standard interfaces supported. I run DVI. Customer support people are very easy to reach and polite.
  • Cons: Color is dark at top and light at bottom. Especially noticeable on teals and grays. I contacted Samsung and twice they have sent replacements that had the same problem. I give up. Clearly they have a serious QC problem.

Samsung = second class

Justin T., Newegg
27 April 2011
  • Summary: WOW! Samsung had me good this time. I saw this product has good reviews online and bought 1 from BxxtBxy. To my horror, the first unit I got looks like it has been thrown around with tear up sticker and scratches all over it. I returned it and received a second unit.
  • Pros: compact sexy looking acceptable picture quality
  • Cons: poor build quality clouding expensive no vga port only 1 HDMI port HDMI does not work with PS3 not 120hz the only thing high end is the price tag, what a rip off

Driver, controls and customer support problems

Three if by Space, Amazon
25 March 2011
  • Summary: Don't buy this product if you are technically inclined. It's fine for people who just want to push a couple buttons, and don't care much about what they're looking at. The problem with the controls isn't convenience, it's that several of the "gee whiz" features turn off other features.

OK for gaming. Not for image enthusiasts

Brian B., Newegg
16 March 2011
  • Summary: I bought this at a local retailer and I will be returning it this weekend. I cannot make myself accept the issues with the brightness and colors. Games look OK because you are not paying attention too much to the details, but text can almost wash out as it nears the bottom of the screen.
  • Pros: Looks pretty when it's off. Decent for gaming and movies.
  • Cons: Brightness issues. The top of the screen is noticeably darker than the bottom, no matter what settings I tweak. MagicAngle is a joke. Colors wash out a bit at the sides of the screen.

Don't knock the guy below

Chris L., Newegg
24 February 2011
  • Summary: I bought this monitor at BB for the same price. I'll throw out a disclaimer for this review: I came from a glossy screen monitor. I'm used to having color with a little more pop. The colors are still unacceptable for the money we're shelling out.
  • Pros: Displays things. Games don't look half bad.
  • Cons: -Colors are washed out no matter what steps you take to correct it. -Stand doesn't lean forward; it's always slightly tilted backward from the position I'm viewing from. -Absolutely terrible light bleed that extends a third of the way into the center of the monitor on both top and bottom. Even wo...

Nice screen but flimsy stand

David D., Newegg
20 November 2010
  • Summary: I ended up returning this monitor because I couldn't live with the wobbling.
  • Pros: Nice display. Can adjust it very bright. Response time is a plus. Very slim.
  • Cons: Very loose connection from the panel to the stand. Cannot replace the stand as there's not mount holes. The monitor wobbles as a result. My desk is somewhat not sturdy so this was a major hassle.

Not as good as I expected

Grzegorz S., Newegg
2 October 2010
  • Summary: I like to play a lot of games and I care about the visuals in the game. When I was playing FIFA Soccer 11 for example, when the ball was moving in the air, I could see a ghosting effect. When the players were receiving the ball and running, they had a blur behind them as well.
  • Pros: Good looking, Thin, a lot of room on a 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • Cons: Has a ghosting effect, Lags in games

Lost Faith In Samsung

Andrew B., Newegg
7 July 2010
  • Summary: I have lost a lot of faith in samsung. From what i can tell they only seem to care about making their displays look good on paper, once you get them in you home they are far inferior to much cheaper alternatives, like the ASUS VH236H.
  • Pros: Slim, Magic Angle works well if you will constantly have an awkward place to sit
  • Cons: Contrast is terrible, the LED's are capable of turning on and off and dimming, but not independently, so if you have an entire black screen with one white speck on it like say a mouse curser, the whole thing is greyed out. The stand is not stable, can not be mounted on anything, the external powe...
