The LCD is stylish with its black bezel frame. The top of the curved back panel is striped by many slotted vents that allow heat to escape from the monitor. The design does not allow any electronics to be seen directly through the slots; this suggests that dust does not have a direct path to settle inside. The stand allows only for tilt angle adjustment, not height. For shorter people, the vertical position of the 931BW might be OK, but most others might have to resort to books and other makeshift boosters to increase the height. The absence of built-in rotation adjustment is no big deal; it’s easy enough to turn it along with the stand. The AC power plug is built into the back. The response time of 2 ms GtG means that we’re dealing with an “accelerated” TN matrix that features Response Time Compensation technology. The screen can be adjusted and the whole case can be turned around on the rotating circle in the base of the stand. The monitor can be removed from his VESA mount and hang on the wall. The control buttons are hidden in the bottom left of the front panel. Quick access is provided to the brightness setting. The monitor has 100% brightness and 75% contrast. Color gradients look perfect at any brightness/contrast settings. Comparing the SyncMaster 931BW to other monitors on TNT matrixes, its result is good. This monitor’s design follows the look of Samsung’s non-widescreen 931 series models but applied to a widescreen matrix. All in this monitor would be a very good choice for people who want a fast widescreen 19” monitor.
See lessThe Samsung SyncMaster 931BW is a good LCD monitor with fine performance, no noise, low power consumption and little heat. It's sleek, lightweight and nice to view. It confirms our basic assumptions about LCD monitors in general: They're basically noiseless, cool, and pretty nice to use. The only downsides are the absence of height adjustment and active power factor correction. Given the very modest <$250 market price in the US and Canada, it's difficult not to recommend... Read more
